If everyone would consider what CB said, please take into consideration he takes his time and money to make videos for you knowledge and entertainment. If you would just take a minute of your time to help him in return it will give him a reason to continue. It’s unfortunate people don’t seem to value anyone’s time unless it’s theirs. Thanks for the video CB Give the man a 👍if you don’t want to comment

Hey Cb great video! I work with Paul and he wanted me to take on his trailer project but I don’t own a welder. I told him to bring it to work and we would do there but management doesn’t allow personal projects that big. I told him about you and he started watching your videos I new you wouldn’t cut any corners when it comes to your professionalism in fabrication and welding. It shows in the ramps. The ramps needed that gusset in the middle and that’s exactly what you did. I would recommend you to anybody!

That’s flattering that the owners of the trailer drove all that way to have you do the work! Nice job on the ramps but I wish you would’ve tapered the ends and gotten rid of those rank, sharp corners. They look like some real tire side wall getters to me! Additionally, I truly do appreciate the time and effort that you put into these videos and I know, for sure, that it’s a headache I wouldn’t want.

Great tips, great work. Keep it coming... (You're welcome for my contribution to the algorithm) Although I'm not a fan of the self-tappers for anything that is going to be removed and re-installed over time. But as you said, this leaves the customer options to drill out and bolt later if desired. And now that I think about what you did, over-size drilling the holes, its more like a tapped hole with bolts in it now. Disregard my comment about the self-tappers use in this application, I'll show myself out...

Thabk you again for the great content!!! In the past I've spot welded heavy guage expanded steel over ramps, cut the width about 1/4 inch short to keep it close to flush. Over time no matter what the stuff bends and the spots break. This is a far better solution.

Looks sharp! Good thing you supported it with the angle; and it'll probably be ok for a mower or 4-wheeler.....but I've got concerns about anything heavier than a car- My Dad owned a truck and hauled cars (coast-coast). The ramps were AL, but were 1/4" + thick; and I don't recall what we were loading, but they were bent/damaged a couple of times. Keep up the good work and videos, thanks!

Hey CB, Great start on the trailer. The stiffening angle down the center and across the ends is a great idea. You brought up some things I was unaware of on trailer deck screws and that is once you run them in they will ruin the threads if you remove them. I was thinking of them while you were talking about attaching the diamond plate aluminum. I thought the counter sunk heads would keep something from hanging up as it was being dragged up the ramp. When you mentioned bolts, nuts and washers, I had an idea for maybe the future since channel has a taper on the inside of the flange and it wouldn't work for this application. I've welded nuts to the back side of metal plate that was too thin to tap threads into. MC offers oversize nuts where 1/4" nuts that usually take a 7/16" wrench will take a 1/2" wrench. It gives you a little bit more metal to weld to without burning through the nut. Subscribed and like from the beginning.

Thank you...good to hear from ya...I've seen oversized nuts before those would be best to tack weld on something 👍
