Personally, I really don't miss a Philips head screwdriver on my Spartan, the tip on the can opener does the job in most cases.

You forgot to mention the needle hole near the corkscrew which can be used to store a pin or sewing needle (Victorinox even sell a purpose made needle to fit this). Very useful. I also find the corkscrew handy for loosening tight knots.
Love my Spartan... Rarely leave home without it.
5 minute EDC is best Concept for knife review on KZread!
I always carry one of these with me because it’s good for small tasks like cutting open a package or a letter and it’s a good backup
Love my Spartan, we been through a lot together.
This is my favorite pocket knife. It has distilled the tools down to the most useful: Who doesn't need a corkscrew? I'm always the go-to guy at parties. It easily fits in my pocket. I have been buying these for years, each time I try to get a different color.They usually last me 4 or 5 years before I have to get a new one.
I just bought one, and I really love. Really useful. By the way, a tweezer is tuned nearly perfect Bb musical tone, so I can use it for my guitar's tuning. :-)

Yes, it's very easy to sharpen too. Replaced the scales once a couple of years ago but that's it. Had it for 7 years or so now.
Nice review bro.! 👍
Nice!
I have my mums from sometime in the 80s so it’s older and I use it at scouts and in my garden
I love the knives I have 8 of different models but the scales are scratch magnets I wish they were more durable in that way.
I feel like the sportsman is better because it has the nail file with a nail picker(which can also be used as philips screwdriver) instead of the second blade on the spartan.

Yes. A Classic SD perfectly compliments a number of SAKs, so your main knife can be kept to a thinner model. 👍
My EDC medium pocket knife, I have the Midnite champ on my key ring.

@@eugenevictortooms4174 I have the compact but I'm like you, I like the separate cap lifter and can opener, mainly for the small flathead/phillips screwdriver on the can opener. So now I'm in the lookout for a spartan for cheap on ebay that I can put plus scales on. I'll miss the scissors tho lol. It's such a toss up 🤷🏼♂️
Think you could put this on a key chain or recommend to?
A Spartan resides in my weekend bag, though I have been 'tinkering' with the notion of getting a Tinker instead. I had an eyeglass screwdriver in the corkscrew of my Spartan, but nowadays it seems like the screws on my glasses don't come loose anymore. :-/
The corkscrew is explicitly why this one is useful for me. I far more often need a pocket corkscrew than multibit set, but I guess that is the whimsy of the europeans.
I love the Spartan, but I would swap out the awl/reamer for something a bit more useful as it’s the only tool I never use
@motrock93b

I use the reamer for drilling holes in wood (i.e, toggles), and also sewed a broken Camelbak strap back in place. I find it useful for edc, but everyone has different needs.
I have thick SAKs and and several Classic SD knives, but not Spartan or Tourist. I prefer Tourist that is a smaller version of Spartan, but it looks like I will have to buy Spartan because it can be found cheaper.
A timeless classic.

I lost my toothpick or it's somewhere around here we're can I get a replacement one?
I found one on ebay for $12, free shipping. It said it was used but it was in brand new condition.
A non-locking knife is actually a huge plus in the UK since the ability to lock the blade would make it illegal to carry in public without a defence
Do you think it’s overkill if I get Spartan as well as champ for my husband for Christmas? I’m thinking Spartan he could carry with him every day and champ he could bring with him when he hits the road. Along with Spartan lol

I have the Compact but honestly I miss the separate can opener with a Phillip's screwdriver on it.
@auberginesplash

I believe the Spartan is slightly thinner than the Compact, and it's can opener is stronger than the Compact's 2-in-1 can/bottle opener. But Compact has a nail file on its hook and the ever so useful scissors. But in the UK the Compact is like double the price of a Spartan, so that's another factor.

I would get one since it’s the original one but the tinker is better imo for actually using since it has the Phillips head screwdriver
The Compact is better in my opinion
how do you strip a wire with that thing tho?
@MetalSonicBricks

Probably a bit late to answer... But basically you stick the wire in the tool, fold it back, then gently close the main blade on top of it and twist it. It will strip the wire bare.

Buy a bottle of wine with a cork in it, then you'll find a use for it for sure. But seriously some say to open tight knots...or screw it into a tree and hang gear off it though I'd never do that as I want to use the knife if I'm in the woods.
