I must agree with you about victorinox quality control. Simply amazing for the level of production numbers and I have yet to find one that wasn't near perfect straight out of the box. Legendary.

Have two of those, but both are from the dicontinued econo line: the first one i got is from 1989 or 1990 and it has no key ring and no scale tools. Got it at age 9 or 10 and had it in my pocket even during conscript time and later at work. Served me very well. But from playing constantly with the corkscrew for years, it won't close fully anymore. I didn't want to send it in for a repair, as i found a new one for 16€ (15 or so years ago) And this one i still have in my pocket daily. It also was of the econo line, but where the first one differed from the normal ones in lacking the scale tools and key ring as well as having a differently shaped swiss shield but the normal red scales, the current one i have only differes by having darker red nylon scales. Thing is, as much as i like the original red scales, the nylon ones with their little bit of texture is perfect for my use. It shows no scratches and wears well over the years while providing more grip. (the edges get almost smooth with time). Both of mine have the "diamond" style nail file instead of the "file like" one yours has. And neither of mine have the half stop at the caplifter. I think they leave out some potential sales by not offering the nylon scales on all models. (Some of the bigger knives are available with those)

Wow thanks for the awesome comment brother 🔥🔥
Their Q.C. is 2'nd to none I agree. It would be a surprise if I ever got a Bad one. Can't many Co's say that. Oh I want to let you know I watch all yours and Thrifty's live shows. I just can't catch you all live but I really do enjoy it anyways. Thanks Slippy Good review

@@SlipjointSawyer You’re welcome!
I like this pattern. I do prefer a 91mm for a work carry, but this one would be great to drop in a pocket on the weekend. Cheers, buddy!

Right on
Hi SS: That’s a very nice variation. Since I have very large hands I tend to prefer the 91s for regular carry. My favorite is the Compact as well. It’s too bad they are so expensive. It appears that your dog made “Swiss cheese” out of that box. 🧀 😊👍

I know, little bigger ran off with it 😂
I recommend looking in the independent key cutting shops Slippy - they can be bit pricey but some have old stock and you can find the odd gem 👍👍👍

The 84mm SAKs really are great for putting in a trouser / jeans pocket aren't they ? Interesting that they put that file on it instead of the small blade. Thinking on it, this might make a great SAK for the ladies. A corkscrew for opening expensive bottles of wine, and a nail file to make sure their claws are sharp !🤣

😂😂😂😂😂
As a smaller SAK will it have the hidden extra tool slot you can open up, opposite end to the tweezers/toothpick?
@SlipjointSawyer

You definitely could 🤘🏻
eye glass screwdriver is bundled with this knife? official product page doesn't not mentioned this tool.

Interesting that the rough surface of the file is on the inside edge. Does it rub against the blade?
@SlipjointSawyer

Mine does not 🙏🏻
I’ve had this one for many years. I took the nail file to the grinder and made a secondary blade out of it which is just perfect for carving and whittling.

That makes it into a Victorinox Tourist that comes with the small blade in stead of the nail file.
What are the numbers you mention when you open the tools? what does '7' means?

@@SlipjointSawyer oh ok, but is it your personal subjective scale? I see other YT's mentioning numbers as well.. are they comparable?

Nice review. Hoping to hear you diss the fit n finish one day :) " this is a SAK of sh*t ". Victorinox reviews are very predictable, in a reassuring way. Thanks for sharing.
