Speaking to people who may look at a Swiss army knife as something they can use--- my recommendation is do not purchase multiple function tools because when you get them you will discover that they are not really multi functional and as you are using them you are desperately wishing for a real version of the tool you need. my best example is the three identical Leatherman tools I bought and took to Nepal. When I was working on various things there, I discovered that I always reach for the real tool instead of the Leatherman multi function. I had to ask myself when I was tightening a flat blade screw, which would I rather have-- this Leatherman or real screwdriver and my answer was always I want a real screwdriver. By the end of the trip I never use my Leatherman tools at all. Instead I gave one each to the man who had helped me the most in my travels. These men were very delighted and I guess later will discover how useless the Leatherman is. I found definitely that's the only reason to carry a Leatherman type tool is to give it away. They do make great gifts because people receiving them have never tried them and do not know how wastrel having one really is. I buy Swiss army knives because I enjoy looking at them and thinking about their various functions. I am purely a collector and have found through direct use that the multi function tool is better for looking at, so I do. But now Swiss army knife company is making so many different kinds, I think they're really selling to collectors and to people who find out that multifunction tools are not satisfying.

wish it had a Phillips head instead of the hook, a can opener filed into a package opener hook, and a small nail file/cleaner… and maybe a partially serrated, locked, one-hand open main knife blade… and then maybe one more slot in the scales for… something 🤷🏻♂️ and somehow had Alox scales, while still having the various tool slots. …then it’d be a perfect knife 👌

If they'd make the tool a bit thicker to accommodate making the combo tool more robust (for prying), I would have bought my Compact sooner. The only reason I carry the Compact now is because I can go to my EDC bag and pull out the Leatherman Surge. 😂

Iron man - A tool that does everything is often a tool that is too awkward to use, so I have Soldier to complement my Compact. It may be a one trick pony, but it takes no space at all and will never wear out.
