Victoria on its way to burning diesel as gas levels run low warns Graham Lloyd
The Australian’s Environment Editor Graham Lloyd says Victoria could soon be burning diesel as the state’s gas levels are running low.
The remarks follow warnings of a potential shortfall as soon as 2025 as a result of anti-gas policies.
“The warnings are coming thick and fast that that’s where things are heading,” Mr Lloyd told Sky News Australia host Steve Price.
“We’re getting to the situation where gas is running low so we’re going to be burning diesel fuel instead.
“To argue against the emissions of something we end up creating more emissions, burning something else.
“These are the unintended consequences of trying to have an outcome without having a proper road map to get there."

Daniel Andrews is the gift that just keeps on giving.
The manufacture of 90% the Australia rooftop solar panels in China means we are exporting our wealth to China. This is bad but the fact that the output of these panels is managed by inverters also manufactured in China and that these inverters are Internet connected, computers with control vested in China means that at any time that we disagree with China the inverters can be turned off remotely and the panels rendered useless matters more.
The silicon wafer is still coming from China. The assembly of the whole panel is done in South Australia. That means the panels are assembled in Australia - duh!

Plenty of gas but most of it exported by private enterprise. We have no control of our resources in Australia. All privatised. So we import expensive gas because not enough for locals.

Yes we privatise essential services and resources so commercial business made Australia the world's largest exporter of LNG. Leaving Australia short and having to import expensive gas. We are the lucky country not the intelligent country 😮
Also, it takes as much power as an average home consumes, in four years, to make one 350W solar panel! Where will the energy come from? The Chinese use our coal, gas and Uranium, to make very cheap electricity, given we've decided to make our electricity the most expensive in the world, how will this local manufacture compete?

It will become literally unaffordable to use.
Australia’s reliance on gas is also increasing with the promotion of wind and solar electricity, which is intermittent and unreliable, and needs to be backed up. Dispatchable hydroelectric power is scarce, and batteries are expensive, so the main option is peaking natural gas plants. In addition, Australia’s coal-fired generation fleet is ageing and starting to retire. Lower cost gas will not only ensure that replacement baseload capacity is gas rather than coal but will also lower electricity prices and hasten the switching But southern Labor-run States Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales (NSW) have all banned onshore gas production to some extent. Victoria has been the most strict, banning all onshore exploration and development NSW has some of the largest onshore natural gas resources in the state’s history. But in 2014, the NSW government capitulated to an environmental campaign that claimed they were coal seam gas resources which required extensive hydraulic fracturing. More recently, the massive onshore Narrabri project in NSW has also been the subject of controversy
1x Chyna made Panel $400AUD 1x Australian Made Panel $4000 AUD - 😆😆😆😆
The only way Australia could manufacture solar panels and make them affordable/compeititve is if the entire workforce were robots. Give it 10-20 years and we'll have those Tesla (or similar) AI Optimus robots making things 24/7 for a fraction of what a human workforce would cost... That removes the 'cheap labor' of other countries (eg China, India etc..) out of the equation.
3:24 Why would anyone want to buy solar panels for their house that last less time than it takes to pay them off, and when all the savings off your power bill go to the company that sold them to you. And too bad if you have to replace expensive parts that are costly, and or as time goes on, they become obsolete. And if the government really wants to help, stop the industry ripping people off with products they say are top quality when in fact they are Chinese junk.
@multioptioned
27 күн бұрын
Without batteries buying solar panels for your house makes little financial sense. You are giving electricity to power companies at a time they don't need it so they give you virtually nothing for it. Power from the sun in free. The suburb share battery infrastructure needs to scale up and become cheaper.
Will he be able to afford the power prices to manufacture the panels.

You need coal to make solar panels. The government does not like coal, so we pay way too much for it in Australia. China buys its coal from us cheaper than we can buy it here. So, of course our solar panels will be more expensive.
Yes, we did this exercise. We designed and developed solar panels then gave it to chyna so sell back to us.
