Live yea he’s the lead instrument more often than not. But he records all the bass parts in his music. So he has 5 strings at least and I’ve seen him with 6 strings in some of the flecktones videos before he had the compito 5 string fretless basses.

My favorite bass player of all. Victor is such a humble person to meet. You would never think he's is a great as he actually is. A true gentleman.

the late prince would be stoked to hear how victor jammed on his song! prince would audition bass players with a larry graham tune,and see if they could expand on it. he would leave the room,and come back 10-15 mins later. he wanted too hear how the bass player could play one of larry's tunes with a different vibe..

I believe those are Fodera's standard Seymour Duncan dual coils. They do resemble Nordstrands DCs though.

Whatever they are, I like them better :) Duncan makes great pickups too, I have Quarter Pounders in my Fender and a Basslines MM4 in my acoustic electric bass (!)

You can hear there's more definition in the top-end than EMGs. I learn alot from Vic's Groove Workshop video a while back. Master Bass Player...no doubt.

When you grow up on an instrument and create a musical language it becomes so comfortable it seems like part of you. I see Victor with his fretless, 5 string, and upright bass every now and then, but when he plays his 4 string it just seems completely natural and as close to completely natural as you get for a musician.
