Give the kid ROY, DPOY and MVP right now and for the 15 next seasons. We all know that he's ALREADY the best player to ever play this game. The guy dunks, defends and blocks more than any other center ever, he shoots 2's and 3's from every distance (even from the logo !!) in every position like a guard, he drives the ball, dribbles, moves and passes like a 7'5" point guard. He's the ultimate player, as if he had been created in a lab by a crew of crazy former players and coaches...

This video explains perfectly what makes Wemby different : he has the skills of a guard, he reacts like a guard. Why ? Because Wemby unlike most of all very tall players didn't grow up suddenly when he was a teen. Wemby was always much taller than other kids during his entire childhood. That makes a huge difference vs a teen who suddenly grows and needs time to adapt to his new body.

I'm 5'9", which is your average male height in America. (I'm also white, which means I can't jump that high). I recall playing basketball against tall guys and it seems that I always was getting my shots blocked or rebounds taken from me. It so satisfying to see these NBA professionals who are obviously NOT that familiar to getting stuffed, getting stuffed routinely from Wemby. You can see the frustration on their faces. They finally feel like I felt.

He's going to be a generational player, right up there with Bird, Magic, Jordan and Labron. I thought he would need to put on some weight when he got drafted, but now I think he needs to stay right where he's at. I think any extra weight will just slow him down. His cat like reflexes and fluid motion are some of his most valuable tools, and I believe bulking up will hurt those tools.

The most impressive things about Wemby are that he gives a crap, he reads both the offense and the defense, and he is desperate to win. His physical flexibility is unmatched for a big man. I haven't seen him block a single shot into the fifth row this season- he somehow gets possession of almost everything. Give him a couple years to increase his shooting efficiency and stop giving up so many dumb rookie turnovers (many of which are because his teammates are so terrible that they either can't pass to him- which is recorded as his turnover when he loses a ball thrown at his feet- or they can't do anything with the ball when he passes to them), and he'll be the best player in the NBA by far. He's already shooting at a significantly better rate than LeBron and KD in their teenage rookie seasons.

As to shooting, they look comparable. Wemby is 1% higher than AI's career 3 point percentage. I wouldn't be surprised if Wemby significantly improves his shooting though.

I highly doubt that you have watched 5 Spurs games this year. He takes a lot of shots per the amount of minutes he plays. A real pass first point guard would help him get better shots. Better shots are far more important than more shots.

The ability to legally travel and carry the ball while dribbling, has ruined basketball. It allows for players that are less skilled to succeed.
