I never heard of Victor Marx before today. I feel sorry for him. From watching a couple clips of him it is obvious he still feels the effects of stress and trauma, hence the constant and forced laughter - he does not want to slip into a zone. Yet he still needs to live; having been too active in life to sit and meditate on the sound of one hand clapping (and the PTSD type of stuff would make it impossible for him regardless) makes for a rough retirement. That sucks. Sorry for what you have been through, and thank you for going through it. I'll keep you in my heart and prayers. I would say "don't give up," but it sounds like that has been your motto already. God Bless.

Wow! Amazing Victor! Incredible! What a wonderful gift you have. I'm curious though Ive seen people demonstrate by grabbing the barrel while side stepping or at least moving the body away from the muzzle and pushing the gun away from the body and then proceed to disarm. In this video you stand in one place or so it seems. Does it depend on the situation? Is one method more preferred then the other? In any case, thank you for bringing awareness to people!

His adrenal glands dump bucketfuls of epinephrine and norepinephrine into his bloodstream, causing his pupils to dilate. This is a *very* common response in "fight-or-flight" situations -- doubly so in one who's been trained in combat.

Michael Sciortino His eyes do not become totally black. That would be impossible. You can see the whites of his eyes very clearly at 1:05, *after* the gun grab. Victor Marx has dark brown eyes, so his pupils dilating widely (do a google image search for "mydriasis"), with a small ring of dark-brown iris left, makes the *iris* appear to be completely black. This is what the OP meant by "Victor Marx Eyes Go All Black."

Best disarm technique ever. I reviewed how to do this frame by frame, and my wife and I learned it in about 20 minutes. She disarmed her concealed handgun instructor in front of his class. He's 6' 9" and she's 5' 2". He asked, "Where in the hell did you learn that from?" Heh heh! Good stuff. Works like a charm every time.

They take a high risk of getting shot. Specialy if they are under pressure. Krav Maga (KMG, by Eyjal Yanilov) has studied this problem and developed the quickest and savest way out. You think the atacker will just stand and wait? Where are the counters? I think the speed is impressive, but its not the savest way out.

The pupil dilation is a parasympathetic response from the brain activated upon fight or flight response so when he does this disarm, he puts himself into an actual battle situation for optimal response time disarming him as he is practicing each time in case he is put in such a situation.

"If your good enough to disarm someone that fast, You do NOT need a gun to kick the now defenseless attacker's ass." Or the attacker might have a second gun or a knife and kill you while you are showing him the magazine. Sure there could be one in the chamber but that will depend if the atacker chambered the gun or not. Sure, his skills are good but not practical for real life situations, perhaps good for movies.

  • @mikeplaysit

That's why whenever you have to draw (speaking about in a self-defense scenario) and you're that close to someone, you NEVER hold the firearm out toward them or up to them. Too great of a chance of you being disarmed. Tuck it close to your body. Of course, like I said I'm talking about someone who would lawfully draw on someone in a self-defense scenario. Stupid ass thugs and gangsters can get disarmed all day. Especially when they do that stupid ass "hold the gun sideways" bit. I've seen so many stupid asses around here fucking around trying to act like badasses doing that.

Holding it one handed like that is pretty common. Also, someone properly trained is less likely to be mugging you. Also, it is more than speed, it is technique. The speed and strength in which he smacks the wrist loosens the holders grip just long enough for him to take the gun away and disarm the perp.

Blinding speed all within the 0:26 mark. Very hard to split the cursor in the 26 second mark. I couldn't do it in some of his other videos but got 5 frames on this one. Awesome doesn't describe it.

I just, by devine intervention, have learned of Master Marx. I got to see you doc. on aptminiseries.org. I was blown away on how God used your past to help troubled youth of today. Great use of your passion for the Lord and of the martial arts. I to am a martial artist but Christian first. I share that same passion. Thank God for all you do and may He bless you and your program.
