Thaaank yooou for keeping the Victor's tremendous legacy alive. ❤ Please do his "Inflationary language", you'll love it. And of course his Mozzart opera - one of the funniest pieces in his repertoire. Happy New Year!

A classic comedy routine. Victor Borge could make music fun and funny all at once. He has another routine that plays around with words and language: Inflationary language. Very original and very funny.

Danish by birth, Victor Borge continued to tour until his last days, performing up to 60 times per year when he was 90 years old. Borge began piano lessons at the age of two, and it was soon apparent that he was a prodigy. He gave his first piano recital when he was eight years old, and in 1918 was awarded a full scholarship at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Wikipedia.

This morning I happened to hear a snippet of an interview with Borge in which I think he captured the same distinction Dominika makes: he said he doesn't make fun "of" people, he makes fun "with" people.

The entertainers of the 50's - 70's were so creative & used many skills to create entertainment everyone could enjoy. Without "bad" language or abrasive talk. It was a lot of fun.

Yes! Comedy day! But comedy from different countries every week. It might help to show how comedy is universal, and so is humanity.

I love Victor Borge! If you want to see another great comedian/pianist check out Tim Minchin (also very intelligent and amazing with words). "Prejudice" is a good place to start, but there are lots of other songs too.

Steven Wright is a comedian who specializes in short observational humor, and is never mean-spirited, unkind, or of the bathroom kind. Mitch Hedburg is another. Mr. Borge does a fair amount of humor while also playing some beautiful piano music as well. Great choice! More comedy!

Want to know something goofy? My Danish grandmother, who was in every other way a warm and merry person, disliked Borge because she thought he made Danes look foolish. Dominika, you (and commenters to your great earlier Borge reaction) pointed out what always seemed obvious to me -- that anyone watching him (anyone but my grandmother) couldn't help but know he was a whiz, and an entertainer at the top of his game.
