This is such a gem of a song...brilliant...to be played at rough and ready weddings, on road trips and dazed in the bath!
To me, the best part of this cover is the chord change after "never gonna let you go". In the original, it returns to the major home chord, but this version goes with a minor chord. It adds a brief sense of foreboding to the track, as if there is a momentary sense of doubt, a sense that this "dream" relationship is doomed to fail. It's subtle; it's completely on brand for the Viagra Boys - and it's brilliant.
@ryanmcqueen3576

Thank you for sharing your brilliant art, I absolutely love it so much.
This just hit different. What a performance! Love every single bit from it. So intense and still joyful. What a ride!
Love the Gettyimages watermark
I love how this instrumental is extremely tense and they could be singing about something political or existential but instead it’s just a weird but charming relationship

John Prine sure was a special kind of poet alright.

She takes a licking she keeps on ticking
I’m not sure when or how I came across this video but I immediately fell in love with it and both Amyl and Viagra boys all in one move.
My best friend told me that's the song that makes her think of us. I'm so happy. Been together 10 years so far and I'm never gonna let her go.

She is the main character of life
Oh this song will be a. Forever Song.
How has this been out for like 2 years and I'm just seeing this now? Amazing
I really love this. Never heard of either performer but I'm here for it.
Ok that hat alone has sold me..
In this dystopian cluster f we're all going through, even as a dyed in the wool Prine fan, this resonates today. Keeps growing on me the more I think about it. It's of its time. Or maybe I'm just being guided by angels of research chemicals. Who's really to tell or judge.
Love everything about this especially the amazing last 1,5 minutes
OMG, I just found these people and am frikken lovin' it! I hope they all go far!
I love John Prine, Amy Taylor/ Amyl, and Viagra Boys. What a combo.
I would like to thank the KZread sidebar and Getty Images for bringing this into my life.
I think John would be proud. This made my day!!
Best John Prine cover ever! ❤️
Love that they threw a em chord on the never gonna let her go part. It lends itself well to the way they switched the drums up well. That dudes voice also is really suitable for country surprisingly.

Uncle winter's distain touché on both counts; well said!
One of the sweetest sanest things 2020 has offered up. Captured the spirit of this John Prine classic.
Your cover of this song makes me feel some way over and over again year after year. You guys are it!
Amy just lights up the screen, fabulous
I honestly cannot stop listening to this.
This feels like a hellish fever dream, and I mean that in the nicest way I possibly can.

This damn song is stuck in my head. I’ve listened to it 30+ times. Viagra Boys have literally become my new favorite band. It’s been a good 5+ years, since a group has caught, my attention like this.
