2:50 Minor correction: The protractor is delineated in single degrees, so since the line of longitude runs through the first tick after 140, your true course would be 141 degrees, not 142 degrees.
Do you need that specific tool to measure your True course or can you use your E6B?
I fly out of klal as well with sunrise
For measuring distance, you don't explain much and skip ahead. Are you measuring distance between checkpoints or from the start?

Rule of thumb I was told was to have a checkpoint every 7 - 10 nm. I use my plotter to measure.
