Your description of how you fell about your bike is why I ride mine to work each time I have to go into the office. It’s the only way to start and end my work day and still keep myself sane.

1000% Dave needs to ship on the Land Rover and get himself a Land Cruiser….pure money pits any land rovers I know better than anyone because I repair them😂 I didn’t think the gs’s were unreliable though?🤔

Like the old saying goes- If it wasnt for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.!! Good thing your bikes cluster turns blurry when passing tractors. With my luck it would have been an unmarked police car running a radar unit. I agree, Bike Therapy was needed in your case. Good luck with the GS. Sounds like the check book will need some therapy also. 👍👍5🏍🙋‍♂️

Sorry to hear that. That was a dose of bad luck. Tenerife and Mt. Teide is a great place to ride. It's on my list to do. I've driven a van around there, don't ask.

Talk about a run of bad luck Dave - you really had it all. You need to park the bikes up for a few weeks and work overtime to recoup some money. I feel for you and am delighted that you’re working it out of your system.

Hi ,totally agree with you reference being out on your bike and how it can be good therapy for your mental health and general wellbeing, especially if you're riding a vfr 800 as you and I are doing, feel for you and all the bad luck you have been having but at least you're able to get out and reash your thoughts and feelings, really enjoyed your video. 👍

That's been a harsh week buddy. Thank goodness for motorbikes, the best way to unwind and recharge the old grey matter. Coffee's on me next time we meet up.

What a terrible run of bad luck for you Dave. Sure, on the bright side, it can only get better from here. In about 3 weeks my friends and I are going to take the ferry to Cairnryan and do the Northumberland 250. Inspired by your good self and Trevor. Hope we get better weather! Sorry to here of your run of bad luck mate - at least the sun was out though! I too have had a rough few weeks with car bills - all three of my cars have been in for major surgery this last week and I have shelled out over £6000 on them too...so I share your pain on that one! Let's face it though, compared to living elsewhere on the planet, we have it easy in this chunk of Northern Europe.....

Dave… Dave… Dave… You had me worried! (Not discounting that horrible streak of bad luck) The title of the video had me thinking something had gone wrong with that magic VFR.

Bike therapy will sort you out Dave, especially with Spring and summer on its way! I always wanted a Discovery 3 or 4, but friends in the trade have firmly said don't do it..however i saw a lovely one for sale and arranged for a test ride. Enroute to the test i passed a Disco broken down...an omen or a message i thought. Sure enough i arrived at the garage to be told the Discovery was not available as it had broken down enroute to being fuelled up for my test ride...i finally got the message. Hopefully no more troubles for you !! Cheers Steve 💚

🤣🤣 Wow, I wish I had been warned off like that. I’ve spent too much money on it now to give it up that easily. I also replaced the engine in it two years ago. 🤯🤪

I agree with another comment on here, perhaps your guardian angel was working an overtime shift for you! At least your well and had a nice trip out on the VFR, even though you're a good few quid lighter after everything. Take care and I hope the GS bill isn't too eye watering 🤞

Imagine being told you've got prostate cancer and while your dealing with that SHOCK 😲 🫨 they tell you that you also have leukaemia😢 I lost two jobs, l was a guitarist 🎸 singer songwriter and l owned a small cleaning business. I died 3 times and the brilliant NHS brought brought me back to life, 3 serious reactions to the drug that would eventually save me. I battle on each day and occasionally ride my beautiful black honda cb 500s. That motorcycle removes Stress, I'm FREE from Cancer when I'm on the twisty coast roads. Silver bullet Stake in the heart, that's my motto Dave. I'll always remember, after my chemotherapy, l went for my check ups to the hospital and one day l saw a group of amputated patients " no legs" sitting outside in the sun in wheelchairs and they were Laughing 😅 l put my helmet on and rode away thinking "THAT'S THE SPIRIT 😊"

Luck of the Irish, sadly the wrong type of luck in this case. Rotten times, it will mean there is more good on the other side hopefully 🎉 it is a constant fight to get through times like that! On the flip side, in comparison to Land-rover and BMW, that lovely Honda gave you a lift and is unlikely to let you down like the others. Thats worth every Euro/pound.

Oh mate. I really feel for you. I had to pay for a new headlight on my BMW 3 series the other week. I've only had it 4 months and they wouldn't cover it under warranty. Cost me £1700😢 I hope you get another chance to go on that trip. But in the meantime, keep getting out on your bike. I know it really helps my mental health. Best wishes.

We've all experienced days like this Dave at some stage in our lives. Don't dwell on it, getting it off your chest is good therapy. Put it behind you now and move on. p.s. you now being a Triumph man; I had a test on the 2024 Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro; fabulous bike. Get a run and do a review on one when your's is in for a service.

Yeah I really like the look of those Tiger 900’s.

Everything happens for a reason.it all comes together in the end for some reason the trip was not supposed to happen. I work for a car dealership and the repairs I have to advise clients is scary everything is so expensive at the moment.riding a motorcycle is definitely good for the soul.ride safe and enjoy the Honda you do meet the nicest people on a Honda maybe because they just keep going.Honda cb500x owner.

I feel bad for you, me my wife and daughter was supposed be going snowboarding in Andorra back in February which didn’t happen due to me not checking passports were in date, just like you with little time left I tried everything to have the passport renewed so we could get out there to recoup some of the holiday back but it didn’t happened, hence lost the full holiday no refund available, I really do know your pain I still feel anxious whilst writing this message 😢 Just write the whole lot off and start again, take care ❤

Know how you feel, I had a couple of issues of a different nature, One was bike fell and broke pannier while at a camping site, repaired £600.00, and 2 days later bike blew over in the wind, cost £2052. But for sure there will be a time in the future when good luck shines on you to balance the books. Cheers

With the luck you and Nick have been having lately in one way or another that holiday was always going to be a disaster.

Oh dear. I've come to the conclusion that running very modern vehicles is a mug's game, especially if you can't do any repair work yourself. They are so expensive to repair. My theory is that vehicles reached their sweet spot in the mid 00's and seem to have gone backwards since then.

Your land rover repairs are more expensive than a whole new bike!

We want to know what went wrong with the Disco to cost that amount. Similar age to yourself and looking at the new Toyota Land Cruiser. You know what they say, a Land Rover will get you into the outback but a Toyota will get you back 😅. Need to keep my spending within my means, two bikes are enough expense with a car and one of those bikes is on its last hurrah with 74k miles on it😢

Damn. That's shit Murphys law. Everything goes wrong. Had few times happen me through life. People say everything happens for a reason but I'd love to know what the reason is 😂 the VFR always fixes me to and puts a smile on my face again and forget the stress and push forward. Fuk it and enjoy the ride and lots of Vtec helps me too 😂 what a machine they are.

Next week you'll win the lottery and you can get rid of unreliable disco, and get a new Landcruiser!

Did you consider riding to the airport? Maybe you could have packed light and worn the gear to use in Tenerife.

To be fair, your bad luck started befote all this when your BMW suspension failed 😮 My GS 1250 has been my unluckiest bike/vehicle I've ever had ... shaft replaced, head gaskets replaced, rear suspension reconditioned, downpipes(black widow) replaced and ceracoted. Looking for a classic honda now, we never learn 😂

Omg the landrover story is a worse hit then missing the trip and the bmw is worrying too.Sorry but I only trust the Japanese stuff😂Honda Yamaha suzuki kawasaki and Toyota 😂😂😂. The vfr didn't let you down, look what you grabbed when you were down on your luck the old reliable vfr😂

Everything is too complicated. ECU's all over the shop, cars, bikes etc. my vfr never went wrong, ever.

Shit happens. It could be worse : could be exactly the same but if it was a KTM in limp mode you'd have the whole internet telling you how crap they are. As it is all the GS fans boys will just brush it away 😉

It was actually a split so non repairable but yes I had thought of it. 👌

Life is so unpredictable and who ever invented it needs fuqking .

I’m possibly thinking the same.

What an absolute shite series of events Dave. Have a couple of pints of Guinness tonight, get out on the VFR again tomorrow then think about the way forward…..get rid of the Land Rover and the BMW and get a Volvo and an Africa Twin maybe? (KEEP THE VFR THOUGH!)
