Vewing the King Tide at Shore Acres State Park
In this video we check out the king tide at Shore Acres State Park. King tide brings in our highest tides of the year. This is of interest because our ocean is rising and these big tides will be normal one day.

First comment! Thank you Becky. You know this place much better than I do. Forgot about it for awhile, until visiting for the lighthouse movie to see Cape Arago. I wish I also got a big storm on this day but oh well, I have 2 babies and need to take what I can get at this point haha.
Thanks for sharing Matt! I live 10 minutes from Shore Acres and have been blessed with viewing many King Tides over the years. Keep the videos coming please!

Oh very cool. I bet the biggest wave you have seen wasn't on a king tide?
My favorite place on the coast for wave and storm watching! Thanks!!!

Thank you. I am a bit of a stranger to this area compared to other coast spots. I found some things I really liked when doing the lighthouse movie. One beach in specific that I will not name!
Another gem 💎! Time to watch your light house video again! Great work and keep the videos coming.

I saw the king tide at Bandon a few weeks ago. It was amazing! Thanks for showing us how it looked up at Shore Acres.

Very nice. Thank you. I wish I had more time to document king tides. It could be interesting to see from anywhere on the coast.

Nice. Go during a storm and you will see even bigger waves. Pretty awesome.
Great explanation of King Tides! This was interesting to me having been lucky to be a Share Acres two years ago for a king tide. Too bad you didn’t have a storm to really kick those waves. Still you got some great shots! 👍 Thanks for sharing! 😀😀😀😀😀👍

Thanks Lynn. It wasn't as epic as it could be but I made the best of it.
Great video! I usually go out to shoot the king tides but missed all three this winter. Shore Acres sounds like a good spot for next year. Thanks!

Thank you. I want to try to capture some towns that get flooded or close to. That would be super interesting to see.
I'll have to make a trip from Central Oregon to the coast soon. Great video and narration!

Thank you. Yeah I was really hoping this king tide would be paired with a storm but you can't choose.
Those were some great shots of the king tides! I also really enjoyed the background information! Never thought about this being a big source of erosion but makes sense. Nice Video Matt!

Thank you very much. I been at the coast a lot lately it seems. Another coast video coming up this week from Natural Bridges, then another later on Thomas Creek Bridge.
Smooth! lol Ty Sir. There is not a bad spot along the coast. Are they a winter only event?
@MattCookOregon
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! They are winter only. We had a 4th bonus one this year too.
I got caught in some quicksand in the Yachat's river once, and had to swim farther out to get unstuck, and for a brief moment I felt the true 'pull' of the ocean and realized how futile it would be to fight against some of those tides.. Couldn't imagine being one of those poor souls who fall victim to sneaker waves.., usually while simply having a 'peaceful stroll down the beach'.. I was always cautious, but now I'm on full alert at the coast. Keep an eye on them waves.

Oh wow I didn't know that was a thing at our coast. I have always been a bit scared of the coast compared to other things so I go with caution.
Outstanding Matt! well-rounded in detail and scope, great Job buddy. I've shared this to my entire email contact list. Blessings to the Family, take care Pal. Mike.

@@MattCookOregon that would be interesting
How much of the coastline has changed/altered/eroded and can't be blamed on climate change?
@MattCookOregon
Жыл бұрын
None? Trick question?
The Doomsday Glacier in Antarctica is about to add a whole lot of thawed ice to the world's oceans. The high cliffs in this video look secure, but lower areas won't be, especially when huge waves come ashore.

Oh yeah we all expect ocean to rise slowly but disasters can cause a big change quick too.
I am sorry, sure would appreciate it if you would abstain from flying a drone in or near a state park! Very annoying! However, nice shots but the ocean splashes looked very tame compared to other videos I have seen.
@MattCookOregon
Жыл бұрын
I did not fly a drone. What makes you think I did? I have videos at other places with drone footage and follow every restriction there is.
