Roosevelt Elk Viewing at Dean Creek

In this video we check out a herd of Roosevelt Elk. These are the type of Elk found on the west coast of the PNW. I chose Dean Creek because it is very accessible to all and you can always find elk there.

Thank You, Matt, that was some grand footage. I've found an essence with nature there. A felling that has been strong, especially during the evenings. I've grown a real sense for the area from many evening visits over the years as a resident here. I felt you captured that here with such fine Aerial and Tripod work. Thanks, Pal, it was a great video for me. Mike.

Beautiful shots. Enjoyed the birds along with the elk. I didn’t realize I was seeing different varieties of elk in different areas of the state…they’re so skittish in the backcountry that it’s hard to ever get a good look at them, let alone get a camera onto them. When I do stumble upon elk up close, I’m always surprised by how enormous they are. This has become my preferred route to the coast, always fun to get a look at the elk if they’re out in the meadow. Thanks Matt!

Thanks Donald. I big timed you no reply for a whole month wow. Busy times. I am having fun choosing random things to cover at my leisure. If going for growth my next 3 videos would be crater lake, multnomah falls, cannon beach. But instead videos are a stress relief for me.

You could do a video about Oregons old growth Douglas firs. I don’t think most people know that Douglas firs are the second tallest trees in the world, only beat out by coastal redwoods for height. There’s 2 little known places I know of within an hour of Springfield where you can see 7 foot diameter Douglas firs.

Matt, I've been a fan for years. Love your videos, taking the family along on some of the most awesome view point hikes ever in Oregon. I'm a 61 year Oregonian from both sides of the Cascades. I've searched as best I can to find any of your work on the Pete French round barn, and can not seem to find any. Have you considered doing a video about it? The Diamond craters are right next to it. I recently stopped in at the family built and run round barn visitors center. I think you and the family would enjoy visiting with them as they have so much local history to share. Thank you once again for another awesome PNW video.

Good idea. I haven't covered anything over there for awhile. I did a trip where I got a video on the wild horses, and one on the Malheur refuge. We stayed at the French Glen hotel which was very nice. I will look into the round barn as I have not heard of it. Diamond craters of course would fit right in with my volcanic videos!

@@MattCookOregon I love the community of Frenchglen. The French in Frenchglen is in fact Peter French, whom was responsible for the round barns. Hugh Glenn was the founder. Pete French was in son in law.
