Vet Debunks Viral Dog Saving Video
As a vet, I often despise viral animal videos because I find so much inaccurate (and potentially deadly) information.
They say the dog was having a heart attack, but the dog is actually seizing.
Regardless of if it was having a heart attack or seizure, why would you pour water down its throat?
If you said it was having a heart attack, why would you be giving insulin?
Where did the insulin come from anyway? From the sound of it, it didn't even belong to the dog.
I find high blood sugar during a rigorous walk unlikely, and if it was seizing due to low blood sugar, giving insulin would worsen the problem.
Let's say the dog was diabetic and it was high blood sugar- why would you waste time on the water and CPR before doing the insulin?
To top it off, the owner isn't even doing CPR correctly.
Viral video pages need to do better and stop making up random things to get more likes.

Honestly i wouldnt think that was a heart attack if i saw that. Its clearly a seizure :( they did so many unnecessary things
I'm a human vet and never owned a dog, and I could tell you that was a seizure.

I suffer from seizures. Like most people, I have observed seizures. I immediately therefore assumed the canine was having a seizure, not a heart attack. Public schools failed many.
Oh my gosh! As a mother with a daughter that has epilepsy and I’ve also had a dog that had epilepsy I couldn’t imagine doing this. You break ribs when you do CPR for God’s sakes! They do this with the monkeys also, faking things that would never happen in the wild and taking them to places that they do not have in those particular areas and people eat it up. If you try to tell them they’re fake they will freak out at you.
I am a normal person and don't even own a dog, and even I could see that was a seizure.
Thanks for telling us what to do in an emergency! It's scary that they did so many things that were unnecessary and could have hurt the dog.
this is where tiktok and other similar social media platforms can be so harmful... what if some other owner does this and kills their pet?? every social media post needs some way to be fact-checked and maybe even demoted in their algorithms. misinformation can be deadly.
