I have had a 2012 plate and now a new one. Done over 2,000 miles and it is superb. My advice, leave the exhaust alone. After market looks good but it's a lot of money for nothing other than the chance of manifold studs shearing. Better to spend the money on original equipment rack, top box and screen, especially if you tour like me. If you carry a passenger regularly then you may want to invest in some foot peg extenders from SIP scoters. Also I prefer a good open face helmet like Malossi. I find full face helmets claustrophobic. Al in all its a very satisfying scooter to ride and is king of A roads. I love it. Oh, I forgot to mention how stylish it is. Happy scootering.
See's speed limit sign of 30, looks down at Speedometer of 60, Blurs speedometer just to be safe
Great review, I would agree with you fully about the ridding experience. I have a 2018 model and will upgrade to the HPE at some stage. I have heard all sorts of things said about Vespa, many unfounded. If style and heritage isn't you I doubt you would understand but it is so much more than that. I have toured, I tootle about the West country and it thrives on winding country roads. I get over 80 mpg in mixed town and country riding. As someone who graduated on Lamberetta's back in the day before moving onto big bikes I never use a claustrophobic full face helmet so it goes under the seat. I carry a pillion almost every weekend and its fun all the way. Cheers.
Technology is old the minute you buy it. I would take a classic speedometer over a “tech” monitor anytime on a Vespa. Sun washes out the “tech” monitor. Want GPS? Use your iPhone.
Shame they cant paint the underneath or the inside of the frame properly though, shame on piaggio as it's a massive buying turn off for a hell of a lot of people in the UK.
I love my new GTS Supertech! Engine is Amazing!! Expensive, but absolutely worth it for the technology, style, and endurance that you get.
Does anyone ships these scooters
80 mpg is still high fuel consumption for a sub 400cc bike.Honestly.
Sir price???
Articulate, enthusiastic and charm, well done Brett.
I am very tempted by one of these! Informative video. Cheers.
Well put together review. It didn't include the "SuperTech" features, but one can get that information elsewhere. That Nero Lucido paint job is nicer than I thought (particularly with the black Super wheels), and the camera work in the first 5 minutes of this review shows it off nicely. But it's also good to see what it looks like in natural light. Well done.
My immoteral love for vespa since 1962
Thanks Brett, really useful review, enjoyed it very much. Cheers, Alan from DownUnder
nice review - I had to sell my GT60 250cc Vespa as I moved internationally and I am in the market for a new one...this really helped tx mate!
My wife and I have a 2006 and 2009 GTS-250. The riding experience is very similar to your description, and the thought of a little more power is intriguing, but hardly necessary. I have rented other scooters on long European trips (I also own a Kymco). The Honda 300 Forza, unavailable in the States, was a great ride; powerful, great mileage, remarkable range, but the mirrors were useless, and the riding position for tall people is really inferior to my Vespa. A Burgman 650 was a hell of a ride, but again, not as likely to put a smile on your face as readily or consistently as the Vespa.
Sweet review. Planning on getting one next summer!
Have an anniversary px... have to do more mileage with new job, was looking at royal alloy,. But seeing this supertech..I'm involved!!!.. love it
Thanks for a good review
