Choosing a Vespa! - All the differences EXPLAINED!

Trying to make sense of all of the Vespa models? What's the difference between a Vespa Sprint and a Vespa Primavera? Are there differences between a 50cc Vespa and a 150cc Vespa other than the engine? Should I get a 300cc or is a 150cc enough? There are so many questions. In this video I try to answer many of them! Check out the entire line of Vespas by connecting with the amazing team at Jim Gilbert's PowerSports here: powersports.wheelsanddeals.ca...

Excellent video, have been searching for a good comparison of the Vespas for a while!
I own a GTS 300 and my wife also has a 300. Here's from my experience if you have a motorcycle driver's permit why would you buy a 150cc if you have the money....I rode with 150cc and 300 several times on country roads the 150cc are really struggling to go up hills compared to 300s.... The 300 is safer to get away from cars following you too closely .... Get the 300 you will be happy you did.... If you don't have a motorcycle driver's permit , ride in the city, flat streets no hills and don't want to spend much get a 50cc.....get a Honda Giorgio 50cc cheaper cost and much more reliable and much,much more dealers.

I'm a big fan of the 150cc. That would be my choice. I'll make a video explaining why in the future. The 50cc and 300cc are both great for specific users, for sure. I can see the draw to the 300cc as it can do a lot of what you're looking for, but as I said, the 150cc would be my choice.

I wouldn't say that it's too small. 50cc models are capable of taking two people, so two average sized people would outweigh you. Having said that, you'll probably prefer the performance of the 150. You'll probably want a bit more power than a 50cc
In 50cc you can have both Primavera and Sprint models , the Primavera is the round headlight and the Sprint the rectangular headlight , I believe it is also the case with the 150cc

@PeterLoweOne

Haha! Yeah, I love style of the Primavera too. The issue is going to be that the powertrain and liquid cooling and everything involved with the 300cc is physically too large to fit into the Primavera. It would be cool to see more power added, but I just don't think there's a market for that. At some point, people want more power to do more things, and a little bit larger scooter also helps with that. Thanks for watching!!

I'm not the best source of information on modifying things to get more speed. For me, I'd rather buy the 150cc to get more speed than modify the 50cc and risk reliability issues. There are probably better sources for what can be done with modifications than me. Sorry about that.

I think you would be wasting time and money trying to modify a 50cc. Spend the extra $800 a 150cc. You'll pend way more than that moding a 50cc and never get as much power as 150.
@PeterLoweOne

@@nathantherealtorsonoma Yeah, a lot of people like to modify the 50cc class just to see what they can get out of them, but if you just want speed, and not the work and expense of getting that speed, the 150 is the right answer.

To modify your 50 c.c. Vespa for faster speed, you need to change to lighter beads on variator, also cut the "funnel" off inside your tailpipe to allow better airflow. Hi David, at 6'2 and 200lbs, you're going to struggle to reach 65 mph on a 150 cc Vespa or Piaggio. So I would step up from that to the Vespa GTS 300 or the Piaggio BV400. @PeterLoweOne
Жыл бұрын
So I haven't driven the GT200, the biggest benefit of the 300 is just that larger size... the 150 still has the compact size. In my mind a long trip would be more enjoyable on the larger frame, but I'd love the 150 for my garage!! It would have all the pep that I need for what I would want from a Vespa. I think if you are using your 200 for highway usage, you'd probably enjoy the 300 better. Moving to the 150 is still a big jump down when you think of it in percentages.

I would suggest go an do a scooter ride course like the motorcycle ride course but for scooters this will give you the ability to ride 300-550cc scooters Then try as many scooters as you can and choose.
Get the GTS 300 if you want convenient , fun, alternate transportation, the ability and performance to merge and keep up with the fastest city traffic in any city, also freeway capable for short trips or longer ones in a pinch. Electric scooters and motorcycles are even worse than electric cars for those that value time and money or work for a living
