No talking demo of Korg Opsix. Sounds & video editing by Jexus - WC Olo Garb. I did not use any external FX. All the delays, reverbs, flangers, sound deformations & noises are part of the Opsix engine / mod matrix. No layering, just splits in some patches.

Lord of the synths. 🎹
A new jexus upload- the gods are extra generous today
I was thinking about this monster lately and one of my thoughts was "I wish he had a demo"
Always so inspired by the tape like qualities you find in modulating synthesizers
You've had fun with the little Korg. Sounds great, considering buying one :D
Really like the variety of sound design. And I like the Cure snippet… ;)
Jexus does it again. Amazing video my guy!
My god, your work puts me into a trance.
Jex, thanks for the demo pack. just added the opsix to a small studio in my kitchen but haven't had a ton of time to dig into it. Analyzing your presets on the plugin version revealed a ton of sweetspots and unique tricks that would have taken me forever to find. Cheers and happy new year
Brilliant as always!
Opsix is a moody 🌑 dark ambient dream machine.
Sounds fantastic to my ears.
Dzień dobry Olo, miło Cię znowu posłuchać :)

Olo. Pozdrawiam ciebie serdecznie.
Great review on your site. I've been using mine for about 2 months and with all of its shortcomings, I'm able to pull some other worldly sounds out of it relatively easily. It's a keeper.

Thanks. The OP-6 is yet another example of Korg making a synth that is noticeably limited in some ways but somehow the synth ends up being an endless source of cool sounds and inspiration. Part 2 of the demo - classic, not ultrafast;) kzread.info/dash/bejne/mmSa0rGeZpfKYsY.html

My mind was empty... my soul was craving input.... Lord Jexus delivered...blessed be.
That "haunted" patch is mindblowingly, classic Jexus! This whole pack is really great, this synth really seems to be up your alley, despite it's numerous shortcomings.

@Jexus

I gathered everybody would go into the "shamelessly digital" direction with their Opsixes so I made some dusty & analog sounds just for the fc*uk of it;)
Your demos are the most critical ones I watch on my quest. I still don't own a synth capable of being a "modulate everything" swiss army knife with a lot of physical controls. My favorite sounding synth is the Waldorf Blofeld, based on demos by a diverse army of KZreadrs, and I've never heard an instrument that, IMO, sounds anything like it. I'm just not sure I can get into a flow state with that UI. But I'm rambling. Thanks for all you do, Jexus.
@Jexus
3 жыл бұрын
Everything is true and everything is false depending how you look at it. I think the critical issue when it comes to synths is time and how you value it. When I was younger I had a lot of free time, plus I thought I would live forever. I would spend endless hours discovering & learning the most convoluted interfaces and the potential for sound creation. When you do it this way, eventually you get the "flow state" and virtually every synth feels like a "swiss army knife". You warm up to the synth, become sentimental, etc. Now my approach is different; firstly, having several separate tools seems more fun than one "swiss army knife";) Secondly, I started to value synths which have good UI (it saves time) in the first place, plus good sound. I mean... satisfactory. You don't really need "best", it's an illusion anyways. A lot of goodness comes from production and composition / dynamics, not necessarily the synth itself. But I'm rambling. 🤣 Thanks for your kind words.
That Jazz one. Sounds straight out of a Spectrasonics sample pack. This is some damn good stuff.
Awesome man!!

Wow! I bought these last night - without a doubt the best I've heard from this synth, it has saved me from losing faith in it and possibly sending it back to exchange it for maybe a Hydrasynth. But your programming skills and ear for what's good has saved me the hassle. Wonderful stuff, thanks.

@@Leviathan-mj8gi Very definitely true. You just gotta be careful wit that plastic. Try not to drop it so much etc. Though I _love_ the "space age" design of the Prophecy...Great for triggering samples or whatever. Also makes a decent controller. + the keyboard plays polyphonic over midi! Pretty cool. Had it since new, way back in the day..What was that like '96? lol....time flies
Sounds better than FS1R. Superior filters. I wonder how it stacks against Yamaha FM-X on MODX.
@RockLobster223
2 жыл бұрын
MODX is a b*tch to get to grips with the FM-X engine, and definitely not as flexible or as easy to tweak as the OpSix. My advice, don't buy the MODX if FM is your thing, buy it if you want the ultimate in polyphony, flexibility and some great ROMpler style sounds (e.g. Piano etc...)
pls demo the Kodamo Essence FM !
Hey dude. What are your favorite synths currently on the new market? Half I found your channel after years of of notice seeing it.
@Jexus
Жыл бұрын
Hard to say, there are too many. From the past 7 years I'd say the Korg Prologue for its dirty & organic sound, Hydrasynth for the potential of sound design, Novation Peak / Summit for quick creation of bread & butter sounds, Korg Opsix for weird & original textures 😎
Is the noise like in patches like Sweetest Friend 8:53 coming from the sound design, overloading the Opsix, or running too hot to your interface? It's cool either way, just curious if it's a capability in the Opsix itself.
@Jexus
2 жыл бұрын
Hey. I always record my sounds straight out of the synth into the audio card. There is absolutely no noise on the way. So if you are hearing any noise / crackles / etc, it is my design choice and it's there on purpose, an element of the patch itself. I made an algorithm specifically for this patch because I wanted to imitate a vinyl record crackle:)

Just bought one of these. Will putting your sounds on the Opsix overwrite the default library or will your library add itself to empty custom slots? Also, how many presets in total does the Opsix have including custom sets? Thanks this is my first synth.
@Jexus
Жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks. You can do both things. You can overwrite existing presets, or you can just place them further down the list after the last factory preset. Of course it all depends how many presets you currently have on your hardware Opsix. If all your current and custom presets exceed the number of memory slots, then you will have to make a decision which to keep. The official librarian software gives you some freedom of arrangement.
