All patches / presets come from the Jexus Soundset which contains all the sounds from all my KZread & Soundcloud demos. This is 250 unique presets + their variations = 254 sounds in total. My patches come under the name "WCOG" in soundbanks saved as a sysex files exported directly from my Peak & Summit. They will work on both synths! Also, you don't need any custom / external wavetables. All you need is a standard factory unit of Peak or Summit.
In the demo I'm sometimes using the bi-timbral setting of the Summit (multimode active). If you have a Peak, you will receive the soundpack as a collection of single layer patches. If you have a Summit, you will also get single layer patches plus the multimode setup from the demo. My pack will be imported to your bank A and bank B, but you can also use the Novation Components if you wish.

No talking demo of Novation Peak & Summit. All patches custom-made by Jexus. I did not use additional FX in the demo, all the delays, reverbs, noises, loops and other effects are part of the Peak / Summit engine & mod matrix.
The patches will work and sound the same on Peak and Summit. By saying "chained" I mean just the Midi connection. The Peak is receiving all notes and knob info from my Summit (via a Midi cable). The synths are playing the exact same patches, but they are producing the audio independently and you are hearing Peak in the left channel of your headphones and the Summit in the right channel. The voice architecture / allocating is unaffected and unchanged - take a look at the "voice LEDs" on the Summit and Peak. When I hit a key and the patch is for example a 3-voice patch, you will see three LEDs blinking on the Peak and also three LEDs blinking on the Summit (and what naturally follows, if I use another finger to hit another key so that 2 keys are depressed, three new LEDs will light up, totalling in six). So the patches are not exceeding the voice count of the synths - you don't need to do any tricks to play them the same way I'm playing them;)

    Jexus never fails to squeeze the uniqueness out of ANY synthesizer. I waited years to finally get my hands on my dream synth, the Summit. It’s just nice to sit down and play, no limitations, many happy accidents and often many complexities I’m still learning, but that’s the synth journey. You journeyed well on this one! I’ll be purchasing these patches in the near future. Thanks for your great work!

    This is superb. Damn man, I’m not in the market for a new synth, but you show this as a true power house for the studio. A REAL chameleon! I usually go for more “characterful” synths like the ESQ-1, DSS-1, SY77, and have the Opsix as my “do absolutely anything and more studio chameleon,” but you’ve made an excellent case for the Peak/Summit. Not that I don’t still love my Opsix, especially after the firmware update!

    Hey, Jexus! Would you recommend the Summit over the Hydrasynth for Jupiter-esque cross-mod, DX-style overtly digital FM, and ring modulation? Basically, I don't care about the filter at all. Does the Summit have a particularly interesting/unique character in regard to those three categories, would you compare it to any other synths? Would you say it is more "juicy" or natural in those three categories? (I'm especially intrigued by the hi-fi DX-style FM patches, like OUTRO_A101) Is the interface too much of a pain as you described for exclusively doing deep digital style patches anyways? I read your review and I'm intrigued by the great hi-fi metallic sounds you made, but your description of the interface really turned me off... Does the Hydrasynth come close in regard to hi-fi realistic metallic sounds?

  • @Jexus

    @Jexus

    Жыл бұрын

    You're making it hard;) Technically both synths are deep-FM-capable, but the Hydrasynth will give you even more options in this area. Soundwise the Peak / Summit is much closer to the sound of Rolands or any "vintage" synth. The Hydra can do some analog mimicking but it's done via the mod-matrix / voice manipulation; it's not analog- / vintage-sounding "by itself" or "from the start" if you know what I mean. Yes, I would say the Novation filter is more juicy. DX7 on the other hand does not even have a fitler so its core sound will be closer to Hydra. The interface on the Novations is not bad. The review is saying more about my attitude and expectations. If you read till the end I say this: "One more word about the UI - whatever we get, man always wants more. I am also guilty of that sin. Most of the patches I mentioned above (and will list below) are ready in no time once you start tweaking the „init patch” from scratch, so maybe the UI isn’t that bad in reality. Maybe it was just me with my silly desire to have the perfect synth. I find it a bit cumbersome during deep patch tweaking, but it has to be said that as long as you don’t cross the line, the synth is very accessible, and if you do not mind the hard-wired mod assignments, you’ll find this layout and your music-making process effortless, especially if you decide to use the mod matrix instead of the hard-wired shortcuts." PS. Listen to my Hydrasynth audio demo on soundcloud, there you will find more FM sounds than in the KZread video demo. soundcloud.com/jexus-wc-olo-garb

    They're on the same level of quality, fun and usability. So in this respect I cannot pick "the best" one. When it comes to sound, I like the Peak / Summit better for classic synth sounds, warm & soft tones and smooth bass. But I like Hydra better when I need some original timbres and dynamics of the patches. Especially good for cinematic stuff and acoustic imitations. Read more: sounds-for-synths.com/

    Are these Patches all a Single Layer ? Or are there Layered / Split patches (Summit) ?

  • @Jexus

    @Jexus

    Жыл бұрын

    All patches are saved as single layer patches. In the demo that you have just watched I'm sometimes using the bi-timbral setting of the Summit (multimode active = pitch & mod wheels illuminated in blue, like @24:41). If you have a Peak, you will receive the collection as a pack of 250 single layer patches. If you have a Summit, you will get the 250 single layer patches PLUS 10 multimode setups.

  • @HaroldDemura

    Does this sound collection also include Multi Combi patches for Summit only? If not, do you plan to make a Summit only patches collection? Thanks in advance !

  • @Jexus

    @Jexus

    My soundpack has 256 patches in total. It includes Bank A (128 patches) + Bank B (128 patches) + Bank Multi (10 setups). All the patches can be imported into both Peak or Summit. The "Multi Bank" is just a setup of 2 individual patches from bank A or bank B. It exists just for technical purposes. Anybody can arrange the Multi setup as they like. For example: the last performance in this video (the techno beat @24:41) is a "Multi". This multi is patch B-105 + patch B-097. I won't be making a "Summit only" collection, becasue the Peak & summit are pretty identical, so there's no point;)

  • @HaroldDemura

    @HaroldDemura

    2 жыл бұрын

    First of all, thank you so much for your kind answer. It is true that Peak & Summit sound engines are pretty identical (although there are still *very* light differences, like the double filtering that Peak doesn’t have), however I don’t agree when you say ‘It exists just for technical purposes’. It is still a matter of sound design activity and ‘art’ when you use 2 sounds to make a multi combination, as a chef who makes a dish starting from the ingredients. You can decide to make a layer, a split and so on, it is not just a case of pairing 2 sounds in a ‘random’ way, plus it is much easier to face some problems like audio-clipping. Best regards.

  • @Jexus

    @Jexus

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@HaroldDemura Well, yes of course, you can approach it as "art" and consider it an artisitc choice (i mean the way you combine layer / splits). But I won't change my opinion that in this case my Multi Setups are just a technical way of playing two patches from bank A and bank B. I want people who own Peak to understand that the "Multi" presets are not some totally new & original & unattainable sounds - they are simply the sounds from bank A & bank B played simultaneously (just because Summit allows to do that, technically).
