    " WELCOME TO THE LAGOON, my son " said our host as we boarded at high TIDE. The SUNSET was spectacular and highlighted the wisps of vapour from the FUMAROLES in the distance. Our journey to POLYNESIA had been exciting so far I thought as a BOMBUS BEE flew alarmingly close to my head, no doubt on its way inland, attracted by the sweet smell of the COCOA HARVEST. I asked for more ICE in my drink as I swayed to the gentle motion of the WAVES. I caught a glimpse of the MONKEY in its cage on deck and felt sorry for the creature. Its evident discomfort made me uncomfortable. Still, I'm glad to escape the winter in my CHILLY HOUSE with the howling WIND outside. The location of the vacation was chosen by a DICE roll whilst drinking with FRIENDS before the EROSION of funds would make such a trip impossible. A glimpse of the SEA HORSES in their natural habitat is on my ' to do ' list, along with a visit to the HYDROPONICS facility on the mainland. The monkey is starting to do some sort of JIG in its cage, probably due to anxiety, or maybe excitement created by the smells wafting from the OVEN below deck in the galley. The BOUNCERS on the young lady with the low cut dress are very distracting as they move to the motion of the WAVES. I suspect the monkey belongs to the VILLAGE CHIEF on board. Maybe it was brought for good luck ! Folks from the CITIES like myself have little understanding of such things. The chief seems to have a fascination with the OILY FISH at the buffet but his BEADS are getting in way of his utensils as he attempts to put it on his plate. " OCEANS BREATH " is quite a poetic name for a boat, but a bit odd since there are no sails. I check the WEATHER FORECAST on my phone, when a noise not dissimilar to a WOODPECKER startles me. Turns out the guy from OTAGO has brought his blasted bongos with him. There could be some MAMMAL VS MAMMAL confrontation if he persists. I'm still distracted by the result of the OSCILLATIONS of the waves on the bosoms of the young lady. She will have plenty of ' LOVESTICKS ' to choose from on this vacation, that's for sure ! If only I was younger 🙁 Still, there are other delights for us ADVENTURERS. Apparently a GOLD LLAMA is buried on one of the islands for us to find. ADHESIVE TAPE holds the old map together but I reckon chief ' WATER FATHER ' and his ' good luck ' monkey know something about ANGEL ISLAND where it's buried. ' WOMBAT WOBBLE ' his aptly named wife has noticed me looking, so I better be more discreet. I wonder if the TEAM GAMES mentioned in the itinerary include the search for the gold llama? Sharing the value could be tricky. I'm noticing PECULIARITIES in the movement of the waves now with VORTICES forming in distinct ZONES of water. I noticed something similar when visiting PAGO PAGO. It was a long time ago but my memory made the connection through the HAZE of time. I'm still wearing the MEDUSE sandals that I bought there. Amazing WOODWORKS is something else I remember from that trip. The high CIRRUS clouds are catching the moonlight as we remain AFLOAT on this tiny vessel in the vastness of the Pacific Ocean. Unfortunately, the sound of the annoying tune ' NUTTY CRACK ' by Dim Dim destroys my contemplation. ' WATER FATHER ' and ' WOMBAT WOBBLE ' are now pondering whether to add some ALFALFA and BABY CRABS to their now mountainous plates of food from the buffet. I neglected to maintain my journal entries because so much happened. Many SULTRY NIGHTS have passed and it's first time I've had to witness INTRUDERS being repelled on the high seas. The golden llama turned out to be a KRAZY HIPPO in my opinion. The one STORM we had to endure was weathered with the help of the krazy MUTATIONS of sound courtesy of Jexus and his keyboard demos of which I am in awe. GOODBYE.

    Glad you're enjoying the sounds! On your Gaia-2 there are 2 buttons / banks: "preset" and "user". My sounds will go into the "user" bank. If you decide to import individual patches (or small sets of patches), the Gaia will ask you about your desired destination. However, I'm not sure about importing all 333. They may just land in slots 0-333 because that's how I originally saved them. The thing is - Roland has not released a Gaia-2 librarian, and I'm not sure they ever will!

    22 voices and even without a panspread ? yes it digital synth don't expect it to be a prophet 5 . but there is a bunch of digital synths that sound more better : Hydra , Cobalt 8 , Argon 8 . Gaia 2 has very good layout , but who cares if it dont sound good

  • @Jexus
    @Jexus16 күн бұрын

    Yeah there should be a pan spread right there top of the panel. However, I would not say "Hydra sounds better", at least without the proviso that it sounds better only after we spend a lot of time getting there in the mod matrix. Gaia-2 will never sound as nuanced or intriguing as Hydra, but it will sound "nice" / "decent" much quicker thanks to the amazing UI.

    I don't understand all the hate. Yeah, this iteration of Gaia sounds a bit cold and VERY digital, but it's a 100% digital synth, what do you expect? There are perfect analogies: JD-800, Prophecy, Z1, to name a few, all were sounding rather dull from the factory, but in the right hands they really shone. It takes a great programmer like Liam Howlett or a great player like Jordan Rudess (or preferably both) to make an instrument truly sing, and Jexus here does just the thing: he opens up the true nature of the synth. Cold and digital maybe, but it definitely has its place in music: industrial, EBM, avant-garde, movie and theater and so on. I personally find this machine very interesting and resourceful in its own way.

    I have a question, Just out of curiosity. Some of these patches somehow "lock" the knobs? Like on some of these patches even if i turn down all three oscilattors in the mixer i still hear the full patch, the cutoff knob does nothing literally no knobs do anything besides resonance. One im curious how you even did that, and two how to bypass it if possible. thanks sm!

  • @Jexus
    @Jexus17 күн бұрын

    Not sure, I would have to see that, but my 99% guess is your Prologue is handling one of the layers, but there is the second layer playing underneath and you are tweaking the first layer. To tweak the second layer you need to switch between MAIN and SUB (layer 1 = MAIN, layer 2 = SUB, or the other way around).
