Ventrac 4500Z w/ Tough Cut - Mowing A 600 Foot Long Slope (Wait Tell The Very End)

Ventrac 4500Z mowing a 600 foot long slope with the Tough Cut (HQ680). Most of the slope was in the 25-30 degree range, although the camera doesn't depict that very well. This video was filmed in September of 2021 with a GoPro Hero 8.

LOL!! That what-the-heck-just-happened feeling when you watch one of your wheels running down the slope instead of turning on your tractor. Funny, too, how that one wheel tends to run down into the muck or some other nasty place that makes it hard to retrieve out of and return it back up-slope. It's happened at least a couple of times to me and the trick is to remain cool about it, which is what you did. Kudos for catching it on vid when it happened.

Thankfully there wasn't a body of water, like a pond, that the wheel rolled into. That would have been very irritating.

@@westriverlawnsnow3452 Agree. One of the times my Ventrac's wheel rolled off it decided to roll down a steep highway overpass and down into a black mucky, briney puddle at the bottom of the slope. Yuk! But ya gotta get it, wipe it off, put it back on, and keep going. (Helps if ya got a mechanic, like me, who'll take care of that...) Glad the Ventrac had its 8 wheels on that day, 'cuz I kept on mowing with it until I could steer it back up-slope to have the runaway wheel put back on.
120 ft lb torque on those wheel bolts..😉 It happens at least once to everyone. Most don’t include that footage though. Great job!

No threads or tires we're harmed. I picked up the wheel from the cattails and took it to the top of the ditch where the parking lot is. I then put the wheel on the tough cut and went back to the pickup and spun the wheel back on and tightened the draw cone. I was back in business, although a little irritated.
WOW! How did you loose the tire? Those are some nasty slops with washouts.
If you weren't looking... You would have NEVER found that wheel. Several other people mentioned having this problem. I think it is time they come up with a new design.
