BEE Honey isn't vegan, but for those interested who may not know, there are some kinds of honey made from flowers. Also, agave or monkfruit syrup is a wonderful substitute for honey in vegan recipes. Also, I'm glad that Gordon is showcasing dishes that aren't just tofu-replacment fake-meat dishes like SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE DO, and is instead showing off dishes that are PROUDLY vegan in their makeup. Theres no need for vegan food to hide its veganism.

They don't have the circuitry for that - which makes sense. It doesn't make much sense to evolve the ability to feel pain or fear if you have no way of avoiding it. Experts actually aren't sure whether bees can feel pain, but bees at least have nociception which suggests they might.

why not? bees would at this point simply not survive if left alone, bee keepers (at least normal ones) care for their bees feed them even if they didnt produce any honey because of dry enviroment (they eat their own honey up if there is not enought flowers) feed them in winter and their families last for long time

@@vivietamihmih8460 I don't think honey production is necessarily bad for the bees. But regardless of whether or not it is bad for them, honey is a product that comes directly from the work of bees - it could almost be compared to the production of milk or wool, to be honest. Fun fact, though: In the same way that honey isn't vegan, neither is avocado, almonds, and to ever-increasing degrees a large amount of other fruits, nuts, berries, and vegetables! These things utilize something called 'migratory beekeeping' in order to pollinate their crops. Essentially, there aren't enough bees to pollinate all the crops, so some hives are transported around so the bees can pollinate crops in various different locations - thus 'exploiting' the work of animals. The more you know! Just to be clear: I'm not vegan, and I don't necessarily think these are bad practices, as long as they don't harm the health of the bees. Just think it's a fun tidbit of information, that a lot of vegans may not be aware of!

To be fair: It could be a pun on "veg" and "january". "Veg" being British slang for "vegetables", and in this case possibly referring to a vegetarian diet, rather than a vegan one.
