VEGAN POZOLE ROJO | Jackfruit Meat | Easy Mexican Food

* HUGE TIP: You can cut the process in less than half the time buy NOT using jackfruit in brine! Instead use jackfruit in water that just needs a good rinsing and break it up. (seeds an all! Similar to the video but without the boiling method) I also talked about it in my instagram highlights the difference of jackfruit in brine VS in water! I’ll link it here! 💖

Hi guys!
Welcome back to my channel.
My name is Airam pronounced like “eye-rum.”
Today I have a deliiiicioso pozole rojo for you guys!
I called up my mom for some advice & some tips, wrote some things down but did my very own twist to her recipe! I grew up eating white pozole but red pozole always caught my eye just a tadddd more! So I veganized it, perfected it & here I have the recipe for you guys!
This batch makes enough for roughly 10-15 servings!
You can always double, triple for a special occasion!
I hope you guys enjoy this recipe!

Pozole is the ONE dish I miss the most! I don't know why, but I have resisted trying jack fruit! I've watched other versions of vegan pozole with jackfruit, but no one cooks it to remove that stuff it comes in. This version is closer to how my mom would make it growing up with meat of course. I love it with tons of shredded cabbage, diced onions, cilantro and lime! I'm motivated now to make your version :) Thank you!

I just made this. The flavor was wayyyy too watered down. We had to add so much salt that it made us question its safety to consume 😂.The only thing we didn't have a measurement for was the H20 to hominy ratio and thats where seems the issue seems to lie. So save yourself the hassle and put just enough water to cover the hominy...I on the other hand added probably double that.

  • @airamthefoodie

    @airamthefoodie

    3 жыл бұрын

Hi love! The chiles used in the pozole are not spicy at all! They are for flavor. Especially because I take out all the seeds with any potential spice. The only spice comes from the side salsa that I made, the chile pozolero! with chile de arbol. So I suggest skipping that all together & only making the pozole ❤️ Guajillo & pasilla are fine for the pozole! Good luck! 😍

Hi! Yes I have tried fresh jack fruit & it is very sweet & tasty 💛 Canned jackfruit is neutral of taste & hasn’t developed it’s full sweetness yet so that is why it is great for shredded meat! It holds on to taste a lot better 🤗 And not too sure about the chilies, you may want to check online! I usually purchase them from a mexican market ❤️

I had the same question. I have a grocery store a block away that sells fresh jack fruit but trader Joe's is a bit of a trip lol

If we wanted to make this with mushrooms how would the prep be different? Just shred and dump it in the pozole? 👀👀

I shred it & then sautee the mushrooms until the water cooks out so they are not so soggy or gummy! And then I add them in last 💕 I did this on a tiktok video hehe

@@airamthefoodie This has become our pozole recipe! I have made this a few times with the jackfruit, but want to make it with mushrooms. What do you mean by shred? Also, any other suggestions other than mushrooms? Thank you and Happy Holidays :)

$3.49 for a can! The good thing is this one I’m recommended now does not need to be boiled as seen on the video! I mentioned it on the description :) Here’s the link - store.edwardandsons.com/products/organic-young-jackfruit?_pos=2&_sid=7d7077a3e&_ss=r

Why do you rinse the jackfruit so many times?

Hi! Because this jackfruit in the video is from Trader Joes and is SUPER briney. I no longer do this. I switched to a different brand, check out my newer videos like my tinga recipe. I link my new jackfruit in yhe description!
