This is our first time ever eating vegan! And we ALL are doing it for the whole week. We are planning to share every meal with you along the way as we try to keep our teenagers full and our little ones happy eating vegan for an entire week! We will also come back to share what we learned, if we would do it again, and all the pros and cons we saw. Thank you guys for your support as always!

Please remember to incorporate foods with high protein or high fat content. I think this is easily the biggest oversight that individuals make when making the switch (even something short-term like you are doing). Edit: I recommend following Cheap Lazy Vegan on YT. She has amazing, flavourful recipes that do not involve insane meal prep! She talks about how important high protein and fat are in a vegan lifestyle and how to incorporate those into your diet in an affordable way. This will help with your two teenage boys (and anyone else) who may be skeptical or may feel they are missing more in their meals.

This is awesome 😊 we are a vegan family of 8 (almost 10) All I wanted to say was that if you don’t feel that after a week of eating vegan that it was right for you guys, you can always just keep eating vegan sometimes and maybe incorporate things in slowly. We were vegetarian for years before slowly transitioning to vegan, and have now been vegan for almost 3 years and haven’t looked back. It’s just all such a learning curve and not something that’s easily done overnight! But I love to see people who want to give it a go! ❤️❤️❤️

Hey Sarah, for in between snacks, Judah can warm up a tortilla in a frying pan, no oil or anything, turn a couple times and then spread guacamole on the hot off the press tortilla. It's so good, in Mexican families they also spread butter on a warmed tortilla. He can even add veggies you'd find in a burrito if he needs more than that. Also - I sweeten my oatmeal with 1/2 a banana. I've been off sugar for 2 years and don't miss it.

Have spaghetti the first night and add chili seasoning and an assortment of beans, chickpeas, etc. and have chili the second night. We serve our chili over rice so if I throw in the seasoning and beans while I clean up after our first night of spaghetti, all I have to do on night two is warm up the chili and pop some rice in the rice cooker. 👌🏼

I find oat milk the closest to milk. I've tried every different milk since I can no longer have dairy. My only thing I miss is cheese. Vegan cheese doesn't cut it for me, YET. Your haul looks fantastic 🤗

In Australia, at least, it can be cheapest to buy some items at ‘stationary’ stores like Staples/Officeworks. Tissues/Kleenex, toilet paper, paper products, totally random items!

Wow, look at you guys! This is great. I have two friends who healed some pretty major health issues with going plant based. I've been eating this way for the past couple months and feel really good. I've noticed some health changes already and weight loss comes as a nice byproduct. Watching What the Health, Forks Over Knives, Dr Fuhrman, Dr Greger and McDougall all helped to make things more clear about the 'why' for me to go plant based. It doesn't have to be complicated either and saves money big time! What I do that helps with family meals (the rest of my fam eats some animal products still so I just add meat to theirs sometimes) is just pick a theme for dinner: Asian, Indian, Italian, Mexican, etc. These categories make it really easy to pick a vegan meal. Lots of burrito bowls, Dahl, pasta with veggies (I blend the sauce to hide the veg), deconstructed "sushi" bowls, or simply potatoes and veggies. Check out High Carb Hannah if you get a chance, for inspiration! She makes some delicious and simple meals.

I am excited to watch these videos! We love the Kenyan food recipe videos we have tried making all of them. 💕 We are gluten, egg, soy, and dairy free and low sucrose..... so we eat a lot of vegan foods. A good quick snack for the family is Rice Chex mix. We cover one box with .5-1cup coconut oil (sorry not exact measurements... I cook like Solo) To taste: garlic powder, curry powder, paprika 2 TB coconut aminos bake at 400 7-12 min. Another family favorite "Wendy's Frosty" 1 can coconut milk 1 whole ice cube tray 4 dates 1 TB coco powder 2 tsp. Vanilla (We also add 1 scoop plant based protein powder)

Oat milk.. it tastes the closest to cow's milk. I specifically like the chobani vanilla oat milk (it tastes like lucky charms milk), but I also love the plain one. My boyfriend was very annoyed with me when we stopped getting regular milk, because he hates soy milk and almond milk, but after he tried oat milk.. he was a changed man.. lol. Also Indian food is the easiest thing to veganize. Instead of ghee just use oil, so channa masala, or gujrati shaaks (vegetables), eat it with roti, naan, or jeera rice.

@@KrystelSpell - We don't know what she know's about being vegan, I don't think she has done a-lot of research, partly because she is doing this for a week. One thing I dislike about channels like this is when they do, "I did this for a week video's" Which are hugely frustrating to watch, especially when you hear mis-information and see them doing the wrong things.

7 year vegan here. I’m so proud of your family right now! There are a few things to look out for in ingredients lists like honey, gelatin and some dyes (these are considered hidden ingredients) that aren’t vegan but you’d be amazed at how much stuff is accidentally vegan! Most bread is vegan and it really depends on your personal views. Some vegans are very strict and they only eat vegan verified packaged items. Others (like myself.) if the package says ‘may contain’ I eat it. This lifestyle isn’t about being perfect! Thank you so much for doing this tho! 💖 There is also an app that you can scan the barcode and it’ll tell you if the item is vegan friendly.
