Vault Sessions: Jack Pearson 2018
The guitarist that we all want to be, Jack Pearson (Allman Brothers Band), is back with an all new Vault Session. In this episode, Jack talks about Albert King, demonstrates C# tuning, and plays a Flying “A”.
The beautiful 1958 natural Korina Gibson Flying V (notice the unique lefty guard), once owned by Rick Vito (Fleetwood Mac), is now on display at the Songbirds Guitar Museum. Stop by and check it out!
Also, thanks to our sponsors-- the Riverview Foundation, GHS Strings, GoGo Tuners, and Todd Sharp Amplifiers. Video credit: John Dooley
Subscribe for more Vault Sessions! Coming soon: Steve Earle, The Mastersons, Norman Blake, Ray Wylie Hubbard, The White Animals, Steve and Ryan Wariner, and more.

And having a good time
I swear he's channeling the players he names as he demos examples of their style. Unreal. This man means every single note he plays, and you can feel it.
Man ain't nothin better than having a joint and hearing the best darn tone in my life.
“It’s out of phase in the middle… I’m going to have to do that to mine” made me chuckle
hands down the best sounding guitar i've heard in my entire life. cool guy too.

Reason it sounds the way it does here has a huge deal to do with the person playing it. Guitar would sound nothing like that in our hands. I’ve never heard anyone go in to Wes Montgomery like that and just absolutely nail it. It’s amazing to see a master at play here. He tours with base level squire affinity guitars as well and sounds just the same. Tone is in the hands.
Beautiful playing, beautiful cat. A Confucius/Buddha grand master vibe. Laughs with delight at his own conjurings . Swings heavy too. Beautiful touch and serene vibe. One of the sweetest cats.
Wow...the tone in his fingers. Jack Pearson is not human. 😮
I love Jack's playing and demeanor.
Maybe more than anybody, Jack is authentic master of all genres. Whatever he plays-blues, rock, country, jazz-he plays it like THAT is all he ever plays. We know better.
Best guitarist (almost) no one's heard of!
Love him laughing as much as playing.
A great old guitar is like an interesting old person. They both have lots of stories to tell but sometimes it takes a little coaxing and time to get them talking. Jack really knows how to bring out the best in these beauties. He's a guitar whisperer.

Wes Montgomery licks - spot on. Beautiful playing and tone!

Yeah, Billy Strings brought me here ❤
The groove that Jack brings out at 1:50 is just astounding to me. The way the bass starts out being polyphonic with the rest of the chord and then he splits it off to establish that constant pulse but not all at once, you don't notice it and all of a sudden he's in kind of dead thumb territory, it just felt so odd and yet so amazingly musical.

Any ideas as to where he got that lick from?
How is Jack not the most famous musician/guitar player ever?
Doesn't seem forced at all. Incredible
I saw Jack at The Station Inn last year. He played a Squier strat and a old, cheap bolt on LP copy. What a player. Jack just sat in front of the bar after and chatted with everyone.
There is something so entrancing watch someone who has mastered their chosen skill/craft for the pure deep love of it, not for fame or fortune. You can tell Jack Pearson is the Real Deal - hands down, no doubt.
Such a humble southern gentleman who had the opportunity to have been on SITE with so many greats including HIMSELF - God what a great player. Just listen to him bend all the in between notes, cause the V is more like a Fender neck + that 24 3/4" scale WHOA!!!
Jack is one of the finest guitarists, and he makes that ‘58 V sing! Absolutely glorious instrument!
Finally a modern guitarist worth listening too!!!! The search for the holy grail is over!
Undoubtedly the most prolific guitarist I've ever worked with.
GOAT? He's up there!
Mr. Pearson can play every Guitar and it sounds like never before
Dude can play anything
Finally somebody’s sounding fresh and unique playing these blues licks. Well done, love your Lowell George type hat.....
@robpattison6606
4 жыл бұрын
Lowell is the man ! ;)
Well, he does have a point. If the guitar's hanging on the wall, it's an "A", if it's down on a guitar stand, it's an "A", if you're sitting down with it on your knee, it's closer to the "A" than "V", if it's hanging from your neck, again it's closer to the "A" because it's inclined with the neck pointing up.
Such a nice guy. Always an amazing tone. The way he speaks with his guitar is a language I understand.
Albert king and SRV together was really cool.
Wow. Rick Beato's interview with Tommy Emmanuel brought me here. Thankful am I. Would sell my soul at the crossroads for bends/vibrato like that. SRV did a lot of those 1.5+ step bends with super high gauge strings.
One of the greatest guitarists out there! His touch is pure magic!

Great blues tone. That is similar to the sound that Hendrix achieved tuning down to D and playing blues tunes on his Flying V.

One of my very favorite guitarists. He always has wonderful tone.
JACK- of of all Trades. Solidly rooted in the Early Masters of various musical styles- bet he could pull of Django licks at a whim!
this guy is amazing, playing, thinking, attitude.
I saw Jack play with the Allman Brothers in 98 .. I think Jack was the best match for dickey Betts that I've ever heard of all the Allman Brothers guitar players ...
how could anyone not want to hang out with this dude? Such a cool cat. Guitar royalty.
Fantastic feeling and musicality.. a joy to hear you on the Vee
