Buttery af. Smooth without being oily. I keep hearing people talk about greasy blues but Duane's style always seemed to bleed fire and sweat more than grease and tears. Just my opinion. But man. The tone. Anyone who says what a guitar is made of and how it's aged doesn't matter is kind of not paying attention. *throws seasoned mahogany planks into brine, because blood/sweat/tears are all of that* Inspiration is where you find it. I know people that play music and other sorts of broad spectrum weirdness at their stocks of tonewoods, and I don't laugh. Every impulse in a sound wave moves molecules of matter, regenerates, feeds back into itself, and moves more stuff until it can't move no more. How human is that?

@@pizza_tapes and only started playing mandolin not too many years ago. There was a very good reason Dickey Betts said the Brothers were going to hire Jack after Warren left or he was going to take lessons from him.

As if his playing weren’t mind blowing enough, his knowledge of Duane’s style and technique is incredible. What a player

Saw him for the first time with the Allmans in the late 90s. Was so impressed with his playing that I somehow found an email for Jack (don't recall where) so I figured what the hell, and sent him an email praising his playing with one of my favorite bands . Son of a gun if the guy didn't email me back the next day, leading to a back and forth over the course of the next couple days just talking about guitars and his playing. Couldn't believe it. Such a humble guy and one of the greatest guitar players I've had the pleasure of seeing live.

I can’t help but think that Duane is sitting around somewhere listening to this and saying thank you for making my guitar sound so good once agin.

Yeah I seen him when I was just a teenager with the ABB back in the 90's and even then I knew he was the real deal. He literally stood on stage right in front of me and I think at one point might have even smoked a pipe on stage but he was wearing overalls and a sort of engineer's hat or something like that but just wore it out. He's the real deal for sure. As great as he is at replicating Duane he is just as proficient with Wes Montgomery as well. A rare breed!

He is. He's just one of those guys at the top of his field whom all the greats know of and point to as the greatest, but who just hasn't become famous. Academics are like that too. You have famous scientists on the airwaves, but the ones pushing the research farther are the ones nobody knows about.

He is! Saw him with the Brothers here in Charleston in 1993. It was the scariest thing to see him and Warren together!

I guess it takes Duane's actual guitar to get him to put down his budget model he generally plays. The dude is just unreal.

SGAR LIFE I know he does, used fo see them make appearances when he 👍was with the Allman Brothers. Which makes it even stranger that he plays the Squier live so often now. He’s not getting any monetary benefit from it so why leave the big guns at home 🤷🏼‍♂️😂

Jack can play Duane's licks and call out where it came from . He's a master player and we're fortunate to be able to hear him make that old Les Paul ( SG ) sing .

30 seconds in and the best damn dog gone guitar I’ve heard in 2019. If I could play half this good I wouldn’t speak id just carry a guitar everywhere.

I'd settle on playing one fourth as good as Jack. Duane, Jack and Johnny W. are all in a separate class of players.

this is pretty much the high water mark for all guitar playing and all guitar videos on the net... you have one of the greatest players and one of the most iconic guitars together in one place.

Steely Dan Jack Pearson along with Terry Kath and Frank Marino. Most underrated all time yet three of the greatest ever.

I'm extremely impressed at how consistent his foot tap tempo is. It's steady like a train the whole time

I read somewhere that Eric Clapton said that Duane was the best guitar player he had ever heard, I totally get it now , just amazing, Jack you are the best I’ve ever heard , best tone and so clean , no mistakes, your a master at the game , Thank you sir .

jack is so awesome, no crazy expensive bottleneck slides or obscure picks or pedalboards & the like, man just oozes amazing playing out of whatever rig he touches

Duane accomplished more than anyone else in his short 24 years on this earth and the fact we’ve still talking about him, the fact that he inspired many, and so many great players greatly respect, praise and were influenced by him to this very day proves my point!

Jack Pearson is one of the great blues rock guitarists!! He is so terribly underrated!!

Most complete guitarist to play in the Allman brothers band. Guy can literally play any style of music and play it well. His leads on the Allmans tracks were original and out of this world.

Statesborough Blues hit me in the heart. Blinking back tears. I love this man.

IT's just crazy how good this guy is... Honestly... I love his attitude, tone, and talent.

Elite top drawer. The world has a lot of excellent guitar players, then there is this man. Not but a few, as in less than a handful alive today can do what we just saw on this clip. Thank you.

Jack's one of my all-time favorite guitarists. Such a class act.

Jack is such an underrated, lesser known guitar player... but man he's good!

Ol Jack is so good, it's stupid...Been working on slide all week but it's gonna take me a few more years of weeks to get even in the ballpark. And Duane, he was just a kid, you know. Kind of magic that happened at all; it's powerful stuff.

Blues players always fascinate me with their single mindedness and dedication to the musical form, a lot like flamenco player. Great fun watching him connect with the instrument.

First time Jack played with them, Warren invited him to fill in temporarily for Dickey. When Warren left they called him to audition to replace Warren. When he finished Gregg asked Dickey what he thought. He replied, Either we hire him, or take lessons from him.

I saw Jack play at the Station Inn in March of this year. Awesome, show, awesome venue. Met some great people in line and sitting at the tables. Jack just had a seat by the bar after.

Back in 99 I was fortunate enough to see Jackie with the ABB at the Beacon Theatre, being a Jersey guy I had never heard him play before. I’ve seen the brothers so many times I can’t count the shows I’ve seen. Jackie and Dickey were on fire that night and when it came time for “Stormy Monday” Jack’s solo blew the roof off the place! Stormy Monday is one of my favorite tunes and I’ve seen it done by many artist, including Clapton, but I have never seen it done with the searing tone, endless sustain, and melodic vibrato that Jack did that night. What an awesome player and gentleman!

That guitar has a spell on it. It oozes with resonance and in such good hands too.

Jack has become one of my favorite and respected players as I age as a musician. He's incredible.

Duane's SG is one cool axe but Jack is the gem here. He can make a broom handle with barbwire sing and dance. Lots of folks got chops and technique but this man has soul in every style he plays.

The guy is amazing.... Agree with so many here.... Jack should be considered to be one of the best slide players around...
