😂i just Love that in Millennia, you don't get to control EVERY city like in Civ. 😮 You Aren't a full player autocracy. 😅 That is gonna be unpopular BUT. I love it. I like that my power is not unlimited in Millennia. More realistic❤❤

Hoping to see another full campaign, I've watched a couple other ppl play millenia, but most seem to make precisely the errors you've demonstrated (early towns, ignoring reforms, stage 1 eureka, non-focused economy chains etc). Don't know if you plan to exhibit more shenanigans / play this game more, but I'd love to see it!

I love filling in the gaps between regions and vassals with castle outposts, guard them with raiders (who have gained free upkeep) and then spam castle towns for all the culture.

It's a fun tactic! Helps with religion later in the game also
I have 3rd or 4th attempt on my account now. Previous ones were so full of mistakes that I restarted ~turn 100. Now, when I got some feeling of this game I'm finally on attempt where things started to work out. One advise from my current playthrough - DO NOT OVERGROWN YOUR CITIES. I like to play tall, made super duper main region and 4 smaller ones. Gaining pop like a madman. I came to the level where my pop start demanding education on every region. But age of enlightment was still 2 ages ahead. When I finally reached it - my main region was at ~10% education, rest was also waaaaay below 100%. Suddenly age of enlightment kicked in. After first turn started to get 6 crisis points. I got 3 turns to fight off crisis and that wasn't enough to even research first tech and locked myself into dark age :/
@UrsaRyan
Ай бұрын
Sometimes a crisis age can be fun though - remember, even if it's bad for you, if it's worse for the ai, you're onto a winner!
If you have a bit of surplus Government points and improvement points, could it be beneficial to integrate a vassal, build up a few improvements on land and maybe have them long enough to build up a few passive things too and then release them again? To sort of kickstart them and then release to take down culture cost? Would that reset prosperity down to 100% again?
@UrsaRyan

Yes maybe! I need to test that tactic a bit to see if it's worth it
Huzzah! New subscriber for millennia here. Very good content and nicely presented, although i think you should consider going to the age of voice break at least once 😀. Already consumed all of your millenia vids and cant wait for your next and different grandmaster playthrough.

My first game, i went full vasal holy roman empire mode and i do most of my income though vasals, and regios i did domain. It looks like i did well
So I have a question, in the later part of the game, could you integrate a vassal, upgrade the tiles you want, then re vassalize that region?
@UrsaRyan
Ай бұрын
Absoluetly! I've yet to optimise it but I'm pretty sure there is a good strat in there somewhere
Would it be worthwhile to convert a vassal, upgrade it as you see fit, then revert it back to a vassal?
@UrsaRyan

I need to play with this strat more! It would cost a whole load of gov xp but maybe...
My homeland got capped at 5 pop, it says something about regions but I'm not sure the relation. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
@UrsaRyan

region level is what is capping your city pop! you get 5 for every region level build a town OR a food stockpile, those both increase the level by one = )

Completely honestly Millennia has a handful of nifty mechanics, I do like having exclusively branching and universal ages for example, but all in all the game looks incredibly dull and doesn't feel like it has life to it. Not having leaders and characters is part of that. Humankind had a similar problem, but at the very least they had the "idea" of leaders. And even though like Humankind this is another instance of players being able to adopt different "cultures" so to speak, there's a lack of feeling a story investment in your frankenstein nations since they all have to be functionally fluid enough to still work together. I've said this stuff plenty on other videos and servers, but I still can't quite get over it. As much as I like parts of the game to me it's dead on arrival, but that's just me!
@UrsaRyan
Ай бұрын
that's OK, it's not for everyone = ) we've had years and multiple DLC batches - and loads of UI mods - to make Civ 6 what it is today. Millennia will take a little to get started like that
Can you get rid of a conquered vassal or region?
@UrsaRyan
Ай бұрын
Not at the moment - it's a vassal for life!
I just don't get this game. I play Civ on deity and watch all your vids and have watched your various Millennia ones. I am trying a peaceful game on standard difficulty and it goes horrible. Chaos kicked in, I couldn't afford to avoid it, and my 2nd city flipped. Turn 136 and im making 6 research :( I have 1 city and like 8 vassals. I hope you and other streamers make more walkthroughs ,
@omygandhi157

How long did you play Civ before you became really good at it? Rhetorical
@Unni_Havas
Ай бұрын
I heard several streamers say it takes 3-4 playthroughs to sort of "get it". Some of them said straight out I didn't enjoy my 2-3 first playthrough, but then it sort of clicked, things started to make sense, and everything wasn't just chaos. I don't have the game myself yet though, but if you already have it I would got for a few more playthrough and see how it grows on you. Many of paradox titles have a rather steep learning curve.

Yeah I just have to watch some other streamers to see what they are doing differently. I think a lot of it is the micromanagement of the cities which I hate. @@Unni_Havas

@@danhynes2 Maybee this isn't the game for you then? But you could just have a few regions yourself and go vassal heavy. Let the vassa bring you most of the income, leaving less micromanging of regions?

That is what I did the first game and did ok. I was trying to mix it up for the second game to go more diplo. But I seem to like vassals better so I guess I will just do those policies going forward @@Unni_Havas

Have you experimented with integrating a vassal, improving its tiles, then releasing it as a vassal? Your game with the maxed out Government Social Fabric with nothing to do with the Government XP might get even more snowball-y.

I need to play with this tactic a bit more!
@capester
Ай бұрын
@@UrsaRyan I actually tried this out yesterday, and it resets their prosperity to 100%. So you'd also want overflowing amounts of Arts/Diplomacy XP to boost that back up again. Probably not worth messing with then I suppose.
I wish this game had a better tutorial. Your videos are much better to learn the game. After watching all your vids I am still doing poorly. I can't figure out what best to improve. And chaos is ruining my game. I was trying to go for a warring game on normal difficulty and after awhile my capital lost pretty much all its population and then I couldn't keep paying off the chaos or unrest and my capital went independent and I lost, as it was my only city

Thank you for your content, very good. It would be nice if the game developers would individually each make videos on different aspects of the game too. DETAILED ASPECTS of whatever they want to cover- Civ has had YEARS of tutorial's from 100's of content and game developers on forms and KZread
Is it ever worth it to spend the govt xp to integrate, build all the improvements you can, then convert back to vassal? I assume it resets the prosperity when you do so, but I imagine it might occasionally be worth it.
