I have ethnic curly frizzy elbow length hair, my mom used Vaseline in my hair as a child and it worked made my very frizzy hair soft but key is small amount with water cruly hair loves water in my case. Not sure about hair growth but as a child I had butt length hair and I loved it.

I have used vaseline petroleum jelly for my hair all my life. My mother used it, and her mother and siblings used it. All my life people have commented on how shiny and pretty my hair is. I've used other products when I became an adult. But they don't make my hair shine and keep in moisture. After washing my hair, when it is still damp, I put vaseline on it - so that it won't dry out. It's always worked for my family. I guess it doesn't work for all people. We never used it for eyebrows or lashes. Maybe I'll try that too!

@@UnknownUnknown-wm2tz I feel like I've seen more growth in my eyelashes but it may also be because I also put castor oil mixed with coconut oil (I microwave the two for 30 secs) so I can't really tell if the vaseline itself made my lashes grow. I'd recommend you to buy those two oils though because they stimulate growth and some shine onto the hair

I use blue magic hair and scalp conditioner on my hair. The way to use it is after wash day use to seal in your oils and moisture. It doesn't grow your hair so much per see, but more promotes length retention because it prevents breakage for my hair. 🤗

I've just been reading that Vaseline helps as a protectant, but not directly for growth support. I think the benefits for the others was that Vaseline helped their hair grow long enough without breaking, while growth was stimulated by something else. In my personal experience (4b-4c hair) I use it as if it's beeswax whenever I braid my hair, it does well keeping it together and keeping it moisturized even after a week without applying anything. It always looks and feels very nice when I take my braids out. However, I personally use a generous amount on my hair. A lot of times when I go to scratch it a lot of it builds up underneath my nails. I've also heard that it can be a breeding ground for bacteria if not used correctly. It's definitely good for frizz and locking in moisture tho. I apply it to my hair in sections, but I should use a bit less in my case. :/

Vaseline works for eyelashes that much I know! It makes them more hydrated and I think it makes them slightly darker, giving them the appearance of more length. I also used it on my eyebrows and they did seem to get thicker but i also stopped plucking them so idk about that one 🤷🏻‍♀️

Technically Vaseline helps with hair growth because it just protects the hair from breaking. It's the same thing with eyelashes and the reason why they grow with Vaseline 🤷🏻‍♀️

It is pretty helpful for afro hair but i think not straight hair since it seals moisture in. For me natural oils did nothing but dry out my hair exept for argan oil and shea butter.

I think it works. Once i burnt my hand so i had to cover the woond with vaseline and bandage that i had to change every day. In 3days i noticed that the hairs on my hand had grown so much, so fast, they were thicker and i was freacking out because of my hairy hand. Now i try it on my hair. After 1night of vaseline sitting on my roots i noticed my hair was amazingly soft and i had beautiful curls (most part of the time my hair is just frizzy). I can see a little difference on my lenghts in a few days!

The brand softee is literally vaseline with a bunch of different plant extracts in it, varying on which blend you get. Works amazing on my 4c hair for moisture retention when used correctly.

@@radioog6945 i wet my hair with a water oil mix, apply a leave in during the cold months, and about a pinky tip sized amount of softee on the ends of my sections. ☺️ i have very low porosity, so i don’t need very much.

I have a good feeling about Vaseline working on my hair,, but would it be best for me to put it directly to my scalp, or should I put it at the bottom of my hair orrr

Hi i totally agree with you on your views abt Vaseline for hair growth.... Vaseline is jst to coat n seal in d moisture on d skin as it does not clog pores n that's why I use it on eyebrows mixed wd castor oil.. If u apply jst castor oil it will dry your skin in the long run...

In the dry winter months I use it at night on my skin and I’ll take the left over jelly on my finger tips and run it through the very ends of my hair and by the next morning my skin and hair looks so glowy and feels extremely soft. Using a very very tiny amount is key.

It mostly just seals the split ends and helps with shine. Just only run it through the last inch or two of the hair. Anything more looks heavy and weighed down.

I found that there is a difference in how "generic" petrolium jelly versus the Vaseline brand affects my skin and hair. The less expensive versions I buy in discount stores (in Phuket, Thailand, but I am American) are much softer in consistency and therefore spread more easily on skin and hair. It's an inbetween melting and trying to mash Vaseline so it's less thick. It works better. I have tried the petroleum Jelly once on my hair and for one time I got fantastic results. I let it "cook" overnight with a cap on, and slept on it. I also used baby shampoo so the combination may have been very good for both products. The only way to tell if petroleum jelly is good for hair is long-term and that I don't know as yet. For one day it's fantastic. Your hair already looks fantastic anyway. But if you try again, try a cheap generic brand that is not as "hard" as Vaseline, softer and easier to spread onto scalp. The cheaper version penetrates the skin almost immediately, almost like it's in liquid form but not as greasy and messy.

I use it with coconut oil and it does wonders on my hair.

So here’s what you need!! Depending on the length of your hair!! I use 1 full spoons with 1 spoon of coconut oil on my hair length med back length warm it up!! When you warm it up it becomes oily not jelly!! It makes it so easy to apply also you won’t need a lot of product 2. It is used to the hair not to the scalp especially the ends!! The best way to use it is to wash your hair then dry damp and add the vaseline 3.leave it on for 20-30 minutes then wash it!! Yes it is hard to wash only if you use lots of vaseline on your hair! I wash my hair twice if I feel my hair is still oily!! It helps colored hair, dry hair and coarse hair think of it locking moisture and protecting the hair from dryness!! I hope this helps you 🙃

In egypt using actual petroleum mixed with castor on the hair was very popular. All actresses from the 50’s,60’s and 70’s have used it to make their hair silky . It’s very risky though.

I would say, unrefined coconut oil or possibly shave water if your hair would be able to take something that thick without being weighed down. There are also some hair products not many but there are a few brands that do you actually have hair products that have SPF in the hair product so that’s also something that you could take a look at If you do spend a lot of time in the sun.

It didn’t help to grow my hair but mixed with caster oil and clove oil it helps to keep it soft because my hair is natural

Do not put Vaseline in your hair I did when I was younger and literally took a week to get out maybe I put to much lol

Vaseline worked WONDERS for my eyelashes but not my hair

When using Vaseline on hair you need to warm the Vaseline first,putting it straight on from tub to hair doesn’t do so well,Vaseline on hair is usually used by males to prevent hair loss and it works amazingly well,I’m hoping to try warm Vaseline and mix in a little aloe Vera extract (I’m hoping to grow my own soon),caster oil,and apple cider vinegar to make a healthy hair mask. Also I find that washing up liquid/dish soap can work well to remove most of the Vaseline before shampooing.

Ema you have really made my day with your very kind words sweetie thank you 🙏 I usually lightly boil a saucepan of water,turn the heat very low then pop a bowl of Vaseline into the water (you need the water lower than the top of the bowl so the water doesn’t go into the bowl),kinda like how you’d melt sugar to make caramel just not as hot,keep the saucepan of hot water nearby so if the Vaseline cools before you’ve finished applying it you can warm it back up if needed,I absolutely love that you’re also adding caster oil to the mix as this also has great results,you’ll know it’s working when you start seeing new fluff as I call it,it’s new hair growth that will start very fine but it will come through,my dad was in his 80’s when he sadly passed away and he had a full head of hair and even had to regularly use thinning scissors,and he also swore by warm Vaseline,many think it’s an old wives tale but some of the old wives tales are the best remedies,such as massaging the webbing between your thumb and forefinger on the opposite side of your body to a headache to provide headache relief,that’s an old wives tale too but it works great as it uses the pressure point stimulation to relieve the pain caused by headache,try it next time you have a headache 😉👍 please let me know how you get on,I will pray for fast results for you 🙏

Try curling your lashes and then put the petroleum jelly on and sleep with it. It works for my lashes

some research that i read conclude that it did indeed help to open the pores of the scalp and promote hair growth... not on the hair on the scalp

Petroleum and petrolatum are NOT the same thing. One is made from mineral oil but Petroleum is tar (nowhere near what is Petrolatum) Dermatologists all agree that nothing compares as an occlusive for retaining loss of water moisture from the skin. I was so against it until I tried a small amount on my body after shower and hair. Haven’t looked back ✨

While Vaseline doesn't have any moisturizing properties, the protective layer it creates can lock in moisture from moisturizing products. This might make your hair less prone to breakage. ... It might protect your hair against breakage and dryness, but it won't encourage your hair to grow at a faster rate.

I used a box bleach on my hair and it was a disaster my hair ended up like steel wool and lots of breakage it was the ugly aftermath of bleaching my own hair then a friend told me about using Vaseline to treat the damage and it worked like a miracle it actually repaired my hair when all else failed and it really does work on dry damaged hair just rub it in all over the damage and let it sit there for the weekend and let it work its wonders!

@@chandniemehta8181 the worst nightmare hahaha... Fortunately cause of lockdown u don't need go outside. 😁 If u have corn starch it will help too. I use baby powder and corn starch. Just do it twice a day. Don't use too hot water, your hair will loose, just use warm water. I don't know if ponds powder will do. I just google it. And any tipical of powder that can absorb oil can help. U can try it. Let me know i u success remove it ☺️

I tell ppl to use the right shampoo .vitiame e shampoo and conditioner .and drink water and also put in a leave in conditioner and u can air dry ur hair if u like flat iron then do so .but not everyday .only flat iron if it's necessary.and I wash my hair every other week .cause my hair collects dust fast.leave in conditioner is to keep ur hair moist .keep ur hair braided at night or rap or a side ponytail with a night cap to stop pulling of hair.
