Yeah, he really "championed" the people's rights when governments locked us down for months, coerced and forced us to get vaccinated, fined us for not being vaccinated and threatened to take away our jobs and freedoms. Come to think of it, if I recall correctly, I cannot remember Varoufakis, the self-styled "champion of democracy," even muttering ONE objection to all the tyrannical and neurotic nonsense.

I have seen NO reporting on this, and I listen to the news constantly. Yanis Varoufakis is one of my few heroes. His ideas and analyses make me think and grow. Such an intellectual giant can never be brought down by violent, cowardly idiots. Love and justice to Yanis, his family, and all of Greece, still grieving in the aftermath of the Tempi disaster.

I had no idea this had happened in the wake of Tempi... despite daily searching of international alternative media online, this eluded me. They went outside the building to discuss and they attacked him. He had severe hits and breaks in his nose and they keep attacking him to the nose. Just for your info in Greece politicians have the right to have a police escort but Mr Gianis had never accepted them. Greece doesn't deserve these kinds of politicians.

Something that always strikes me about Varoufakis, and the DiEM25 movement, resides in the parting words of this video and something said previously. An idea that constantly emerges in almost every talk Varoufakis gives. It seems to me that Varoufakis interprets his role as that of an instrument of change, rather than its arbitrer. My interpretation of the DiEM25 project is that there is a genuine belief that it does not matter if DiEM25 leads the way, and if our societies can find alternative paths then so be it. I am hopeful for this project. Not only because it reflects my own political inclinations, but also because it promises a revitalization of the way our societies engage in politics. That is something that all citizens, regardless of political inclination, could cherish. DiEM25 reflects Varoufakis's profound respect for his country, institutions and its people. Us Europeans are in dire need of this respect, both in receiving and granting it. Thank you DiEM25 for giving me hope, and inspiration.

In the first time in greek history a left-ish party won the elections, and he became minister. And then his party (along with the rest of the parties) voted FOR a very-very unpopular financial deal (that would supposedly save Greece´s economy), except him personally, and the whole communist party, who went against the plan. So, he wasn´t involved, quite the opposite is the truth, he has even warned everyone of the consequences. But those 7 beat him up anyway !!!
