Hi guys I’m a full time van lifer based just up the road from Lytham st Anne’s I totally agree with what your saying I’m self employed pay my taxes pay my road tax insurance and enjoy towns across the uk. The fun police want to take our freedom it’s sad but true 😔. If you want to meet up one day and discuss what can be done because I think we need to fight back some how 💯
@Roadshome

Sounds like a plan. 😉
Having physically watched what you call travellers emptying toilets between the rocks at Morecambe and being a resident here I think we have every right to be a bit cynical. Also residents that have bought expensive properties on the sea front to make the best of one of the most beautiful views across Morecambe bay have that view impeded by a sea of not particularly pretty motorhomes. It’s purely a cost thing that you’re not willing to pay for the ability to park where motor homes are supposed to park with waste water disposal points etc and I get that it’s expensive but so is council tax for the residents that live in the seaside areas you talk about.
@Roadshome

If someone buys a house on the sea front, you buy the exclusive right of view up to your gate or wall. Not all the way to Ireland. But yes I see what your saying and do have a little sympathy. I say a little because if i was buying a house by the sea, I'd expect to share the seaside with visitors and their cars. I doubt anyone who owns a house on the seafront has exclusive rights to the view in the deeds. What about people's rights to park on the road ? The road they have paid road tax for ? Doesn't the name road tax suggest you have paid to use and park at the roadside ? I say this as it now seams we and I mean both me and yourself pay both road tax and now a parking tax unless you own a drive. If you see the beautiful views at Morecambe do you think it fair that only you and those who can afford a house there see it ? I wish the council would make a free part of the road for campers away from your houses, if they put in facilities for people to dump waste for a small cost then even better. Everyone could be happy and the van owners would have paid for themselves. Councils don't see the bigger picture, and I don't think you do either. Campers don't want to block your view or be parked near you. But the more space that's removed like Lytham sends more your way unfortunately.

I don’t think that I have any exclusive right to any view,and visitors to Morecambe particularly is what the town is and has been crying out for for years. However there are vehicles that have remained stationary for some time (months in some instances) and therefore must be disposing of “waste product” via some means (the ones I’ve described in my first message particularly) and that is my major concern. I owned a caravan when my children were younger and not for one minute would I have just pitched up by the roadside in a seaside resort and thought to stay for a“little break” So as far as the “the bigger picture” is concerned what’s the lure of the seaside for you ? Is it maybe the view or the fresh air ? This is why we choose to live here in houses and pay for the privilege via taxes and please don’t think that because we live here that we get to do it for free because believe me it costs plenty. As you’ve described you don’t want to park on a side road near the sea you want to look out at it,which is what the people of Morecambe like to do ! If you look at the promenade in general it’s an untidy mess where the “travellers” stay between The Battery and The Midland Hotel and the bins are often overflowing with rubbish. Down the Bare end it’s less of a problem as there are significantly less “amenities” available but there will be motorhomes parked up here too ! Lancaster City Council will hopefully address the situation and I hope that they come up with a plan that is acceptable to both you and I with a portion (maybe opposite the golf club)for the use of motorhomes up to a certain size(without interference to traffic using the road) Good luck on your journey 😊

They do not want folk being free, all they want is to control us. We were down in Southport and were going to move to Lytham but were advised not to. We always make a point of shopping in a local shop and pointing out we are visitors in a Motorhome and what the council is doing to us an d them. We are in Cullen this weekend on an Aire but at a reasonable price and everything but a hook up. Take care and stay safe.

Good video guys ...some people leave comments before they watch the video right through..you said the reasoning within the 1st 60 seconds.. its common sense for local council's to get people into their towns . Its just logical...welcome visitors and visitors will spend. I wouldnt be suprised if its local parish council's voicing off..their probably all dog walkers,live on the promonade etc maybe you should get in touch with them next and see if they would do an interview. Could be interesting but i dare say they would decline. Take care and keep up with the good intetesting videos 😊 p.s ive been working in my van the ladt 4/5weeks ..😂
I think the motorists is under attack and restrictions and cost follow. Although for 'travellers' this can be and often is much worst.

Council already charges dog walkers etc through council tax . Going to a place you know you’ll end up parking up a side street again is just being contrary for a theme. You should report about it then go somewhere else. Those local residents vote for those councils so if they dint want their expensive view blocked, and they will pay more for location, then I think the council should listen to them. What they should then do is build an aire where you can park without effecting others.

Most of the locals are not happy with the council. As the restrictions don't just affect vans its locals wanting to walk dogs. They wasn't properly informed themselves or weren't listened to. The odd thing is at one end there is a school field on one side and other side sea and sand dunes. No houses, no one to bother, but still restrictions. That alone makes no sense at all. As the school will be closed after 6pm anyway. It's obviously another profit making scheme for the council.
Funny af reading comments. Its a catch 22 as a vanlifer I hate them telling us to go to a campsite but I know people who are residents and there has been a problem with people living on that spot and spreading chairs and tables on public (council) land or pavements. There has also been a issue with waste water, people dumping waste on public road. As a vanlifer I am pissed at uk government for shelving the bill we tried to get to parliament to build aires in the uk to try to stop this happening. I truly believe if you provide facility's (like Europe) this would not happen. The lack of places to dump and fill water/waste causes the issue. there is a tip to remove waste i.e. rubbish but no where for waste water/sewage. I understand the local councils would have to front the money to build them but once built they need little maintenance. In Portugal 2euro for 125l of water is the cost at most places and why not make this the case in the uk. Waste dump is free. the uk is a 3rd world country when it comes to providing facility's. I personally have thought about buying a house in a dump like Burnley just the use as a water station and dump point because you can buy a house for £20k but the fees and crime rate put me off. Government just need to get a grip. UK is a mess. LOL

Like you I see easy solutions but councils don't. They want large homes of money. I worked in a London school for 22 years and saw how councils wasted money simply because if they didn't spend the lot they got a lower budget the following year. If all the council are run this way I can see why they waste the money. One thing that was encouraging was locals didn't ask for the restrictions and most wasn't aware.

As is so often the case the councils have got their head in the sand and are absolutely missing a trick. We need a system like the camping car parks in France, where the local are very welcoming because you pay a small fee, you spend money in their shops and restaurants and give something back to the community. I also watched your video from Morecambe….i just don’t get it. I live a stones throw from Morecambe. There is so much room to have some designated Motorhome park ups which would help avoid confrontation and bring some money into the resort….which to be honest is well needed it has become so sadly run down.

Almost everywhere in France and Spain you can park, empty your toilet and fill up with water for free. This means visits spend more in local shops because they park, travel around locally have a few beers, and are made to feel welcome and generally come back time and again. Probably with this country is the council want to charge way to much so tourists don't want to stay longer than necessarily. If we had better weather in the UK the councils could do it. We just don't get consistent good weather.
I never plan my wkends unless theres a van show on somewhere, when I finish work on Friday I get in my van & go, where i stop i dont even know. I Wont stay at Holiday parks as some find my music offensive so i try to stay away from other people & a holiday park is a deff no no plus I like to cook on an open fire. Hi Mark and Sioux, I've stopped on the front both in Morcambe and-before they stopped it- Lytham. At both places I spent money in local shops, cafes , chippy's etc and basically supported the local economy. I leave no sign when I leave that I was ever there. I take my litter home with me and put it in my own bin-including chippy paper from the pier chippy which I used to use regularly- though now they do not get my custom. Morecambe itself is slowly dying and to be honest needs all the custom it can get. Fleetwood has a good idea and allows overnight on its main car park for a fiver a night. Why dont Morcambe and Lytham do that on their car parks??? it would bring income into those places. Instead lytham charge 15 to 20 a night for their car park. Why do we not use camp sites? Well I for one would love to use camp sites but I will NOT pay 30-50 a night to park on grass by money grabbing chancers who literally charge what they can get away with . Makes me so mad!!! hopefully we will meet up one day and I can say hello and no doubt have a joint rant lol Much respect as always to you and Sioux 🙏- Kenny

I would like to speak for Lytham council , at least they are making places for Motorhomes and allowing you to stay , £12-50 a night is not to bad , better than £40 on a site , I wish more councils everywhere in uk would do the same . They are probably the only council that has an Elsan toilet to use for only a pound , it’s so easy to do and more councils could follow and make a bit of money out of it. If you go to France every village has toilet disposal and free water

Why pay councils to park when you have already paid road tax. Soon you will not be able to get out your car without a parking fee to pay. Motorists are easy targets for greedy councils.

Thanks for watching the videos, so good to have you along 😊 Some rather unpleasant comments on this video aswell. 🥺
First I'd like to accept you views but as someone who does have a van and enjoys traveling. I can't agree with your behaviour which gives us a bad name. I know and have been to sites where you can just turn up and some are only turn up no bookings. Parking on residential roads outside houses is a big no no for me. Many parts of the UK you can just park up but if you want to stay somewhere scenic then I have no issue with £15 for a night it's cheaper than campsites. That's what the council want for you to put back into their community. Lastly you are staying in a car park or the side of the road it's not a campsite where you can put your awning out etc so too right cooking outside etc shouldn't be happening. I think you both need a bit of a reality check and to start thinking how damaging this is to the van life community.

If people are responsible, clean up the mess and leave it as they found it I don't see why families or even the people in the houses across the road from the sand dunes shouldn't be allowed.
