there are NO people there. My best friend is from Ontonagon (she's a yooper). This part of the state is majestic and beautiful. I am now jealous of my best friend Cheryl. She grew up in the UP. I am from Maryland, I have beaches on the Atlantic, but these views are breathtaking.

However, Congress and Andrew Jackson wanted to settle the Toledo war (yes, there was a war) and told Michigan that if it conceded and gave Toledo to Ohio, they in turn would give the Up to Michigan. If this hadn’t happened, it’s likely the Up would’ve likely become part of Wisconsin

Well Michigan lucked out. Toledo is nothing to compare to the UP. Traveled to the UP several times and each time to a different area, which was beautiful and peaceful. Thanks for the lesson.

I have former in- laws in Traverse City. I'm from CA originally. Michigan is very nice but I couldn't adjust the colder weather. If you hadn't stopped, you would've missed those views. Adventures don't always mean getting there 'yesterday'. Treasures are always where you least expect them. ❤

Ahhh "Say Yah to the UP eh!! Those pasties are my fav.! Lived up in Marquette for 7 yrs with Lake Superior at my back door.

Ooooh The U.P. has so many neat things to see and great places to camp! Lived in the UP for over 18 years and always found somewhere new to explore/hike/camp. Lake Superior is one of the most dangerous lakes. Check out the Maritime Museum if you can. The story of the Edmund Fitzgerald is heartbreaking.

Yep..I feel that way about my state IL. I know people who have never left Chicago…we have so many state parks and lakes and fishing and places to do vacation…throughout Illinois.

You should go through Duluth and up the North Shore of Lake Superior= it's beautiful and so much to see!

I went to Lake Michigan years ago to visit my friend who loved sailboating and we went out on Lake Michigan. I was so surprised because it was like sailing on the ocean, the Great Lakes act like seas and oceans with the tide and active waves. They are so beautiful and thank you for sharing this with us. Your video prompted me to do some research oh Michigan's Lakes and I learned so much! This is why I love your channel; you often prompt me to do more research on things. I even did research on dome camping and have told numerous friends about it and hope to plan a trip to one within the year. Stay safe, feel better and better each day and continue to enjoy life to the fullest.

I am from Illinois and was just there Thursday Sept 14 just a few days ago. We loved it, we went all the way to Whitefish Point and went to the Great Lake Shipwreck Museum, it was amazing. We saw Lake Superior, Lake Michigan and Lake Huron all in the same day, it was chilly then as well. Have a safe and most wonderful trip.

Hi Nomi! Hope I'm catching you before you leave the U.P. I've got two hidden gems to suggest you check out: the Cut River bridge (park then take an easy hike underneath the bridge) and Canyon Gorge. Canyon Gorge is quite literally hidden. The rest area that you hike from didn't have any real signage and if you decide to check it out, just know that the first little waterfall you come to is NOT the destination - you've got to keep going to get to the gorge. It's really something to see. And speaking of waterfalls, there's quite a few up there that are worth checking out. One more tip - if you have time to go to historic Fayette that's an awesome place to visit too. Enjoy your time in the U.P. it really is beautiful.

Thanks for sharing the beauty of our home state's UP! I haven't been Up North in a long time. I went camping with some friends up in Sleeping Near Dunes about 16 years ago, and my daughter and I took a road trip and spent the day in Traverse City back in 2018. We had such a great time and the waterfalls are beautiful! I also love learning about interesting historical facts and relics and then actually seeing them up close and personal while imagining what life was like when they were operational. You can't beat stir-fried veggies in olive oil and that coconut rice is bomb! I can't wait to purchase some more. 😋 Get some rest and feel better soon!❤😊

They are considered inland seas, and Lake Superior can generate its own volatile weather patterns.

Yes Upper Peninsula is beautiful country. Stayed in Upper Peninsula when I was younger. Father stationed at the military base near Gwinn and Marquette Mich. Love the 4 seasons and the Fall is beautiful.
