This reminds me of a dark tale I once heard about that took place on a lighthouse island. I forget their names now, but two men were put ashore to start their duty. Not long into this shift the men were out on the end of the island in really bad weather when one of them dropped dead of a heart attack. The other man left the man there on the rocks because trying to carry him across the rocks in such bad weather wasn't safe, so he decided to go back for the body when the weather cleared. But when he got back to the lighthouse he looked at the man through some binoculars and saw something that chilled him to his core. The dead man was waving his arm at him, beckoning him to come and join him, his dead face on his head lolling about, the survivor was unmanned. It turned out the dead man was being buffeted by strong winds, and it blew his arm back and forth, appearing like a zombie calling for the other man to come closer. He recorded as such in the record book at the lighthouse, but by the time a replacement crew reached him he'd completely lost his sanity. So afraid he was of the 'zombie' that he didn't dare do anything else except keep an eye on the dead man 24/7.

There's no way this was a rouge wave, it's too high up and there were no storms that week even though he wrote in the book that it was stormy, maybe rough seas somewhat but not 100 foot waves.
