Vanished on a Camping Trip. The Disappearance of Patricia "Patti" Adkins

#pattiadkins
Hello everyone, in today's case I will be discussing the disappearance of Patricia "Patti" Adkins.
Patti was 29 years old at the time of her disappearance. She has blonde hair, hazel eyes, is roughly 5'8" tall and 120lbs. She was last seen on June 29th 2001 at the Honda plant in Marysville, Ohio. She clocked out a few seconds after midnight on June 29, 2001, at the end of the second shift. She then was supposed to be going on a camping trip with her boyfriend, as they both had the week off from the plant. She left the plant with him, (in his pickup truck) and was never seen again. Patti was thought to be carrying a teal duffle bag with her and was last seen wearing her white Honda uniform. Her boyfriend was married, and told Patti he was pursuing a divorce.. He had borrowed close to 100 thousand dollars from her, and right before she went missing, she had started asking for repayment. He remains anonymous to this day.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Patti, her daughter, and her family and friends🙏🙏
If you have any information regarding this case, please contact The Marysville Police Department at 937-642-3900

Actually when you go camping a lot of times there is no signal. But what there is is GPS which is damn good to have if you got lost. Especially if you download offline maps. Yeah telling her to leave her phone and not bring anything should have set off all kinds of alarms. I mean what did she think they were going to spend all that time with no clothes on?

If they croseed the border into Canada, wouldn’t it be easy to check ? Don’t they check ID and vehicle license #’s and want to know the destination, how long they plan to stay and if they have a reservation for a hotel or cabin and if they have enough money to pay for it and money to pay for food, and lodging during their stay Canada? Sheesh! We took a ferry to Victoria BC from Seattle for a weekend stay. We had to wait and be interviewed all ID checked, baggage searched, purses searched, hotel reservation verufied, bank cards verified and return tickets home verified. They wanted to know everything we panned to do, ie tour the city, visit museums etc…This was in 2006, after 911, and border security was high. It was just as intense getting back into the US. So I wonder if police even checked if they made it into Canada? Killing her in Canada would have left some clues and questions about why she wasn’t along on crossing back into US. Canadian police would be searching for her for over staying her visit. I had a friend whise daughter over stayed her visit , and they tracked her down and de-ported her.

@@linanicolia1363 Well, they do have circumstantial evidence. Her cat hair DNA on the truck cover. They cards and gifts they found on his premises. The fact that Patti told her sister about the trip and. The fact that the boyfriend told Patty not to bring her phone. The fact that she’d gotten family to take care of her daughter because she obviously told them she was going on a trip. All that and he yelled the cops that he barely knew her. He said that they never had a relationship. He said they’d never gone on a trip to Canada with her. He said the card that she sent him that the police found, was from all the workers….however, hers was the only signature on that card. The bottom line is that she was in a relationship with him and told family that she was going on a trip. Got family to take her daughter……. and he’s denying they ever went!!!! He also failed the lie detector test!!!! I think the cops had a lot to go on. Had they interviewed the wife she might have spilled the beans. Plenty of evidence - told her sister that she would have to lie in the back of the truck but he claims she was never there…… yet the hairs from her own cat were on the truck cover. It is beyond me that they say they don’t have enough evidence!!!

There’s no way the scumbag boyfriend didn’t do something to her. He took her camping to do away with her because he had no intentions of leaving his wife or paying her back. And, most of the time when something happens to someone it’s by someone they know. Homicide by strangers is actually rare. I hope the cops are seriously looking at the boyfriend. Edit: Wow, they’ve locked people up on less. This is enraging. You’re kidding about not knowing the motives, right? Right before she went missing she asked for him to start paying her back and the affair was nothing more than that in his eyes, even tho he was telling her he was going to leave his wife, which he obviously had no intention of doing. People have murdered over just one of those plenty of times.

Really, that's how you want to start a relationship, already knowing that the other person is a cheater? They are showing you the kind of person that they are. Believe them. 100% untrustworthy. Of the unimaginable things I can claim I did in my life, saving a high school friend from something that was happening to them, very similar to this, was one of the 'best feeling' things I can say that I ever accomplished in my life. I knew her in high school, we dated a little bit, nothing serious...and after school ended, I joined the military. I loved the life, and being single, athletic and loving 'high adventure', I ended up with a Special Operations group for a few years. After I got out of the service, I went to college, good career...and one day out of the blue, when 'internet social stuff' just started getting 'big', I thought...'hey, wonder what other high school associates are up to?' Started doing a few simple name searches...found a few pages...and I came across one that I had to check twice to see 'if it was really her'...the posts were dark, sad to read...and then a very recent one, asking if 'anyone knew what happened to' was there...and she was looking ME UP! So, not really thinking 'worst-cases' through, I replied...within minutes, my post was deleted, and I got a 'private message'...she was scared, really scared...she had been married for over a decade to what eventually, she realized, was a real monster. Controlling, didn't work...she had to turn over her paycheck to him...he beat her, was in with most every form of 'authority' in the city and county they were in...and had told audacious lies about 'government and military intelligence', 'black ops', etc...which was so much hogwash, but he strutted all 300-pounds around in his hometown like he was god...and none would counter him. She cried for a bit...I told her to call, if she wanted...and within a few hours, she said 'I'll call in 30-minutes, before I have to clock in at work'...she called...told me so much more, it was heartbreaking to hear. I told her, 'if you need a safe space, you can stay at my home until you can get back on your feet...I don't mind, I don't control...and I'd help any friend...you know that'. She chuckled and said, 'yeah...like I can afford that. I don't know where you are, and he barely lets me have enough out of my check for gas to work and lunch!'...I said, if you want to leave tonight, just say it...I'll pay your ticket...you just owe me a smile, when it's done. I've got some friends, can probably get you job interviews this week...'...she said, 'are you here in this state?' I said, 'nope...(at the time, I was about 2,000 miles away)...say the word, I'll make it happen, you just get a taxi to the airport, the rest is 'a day of air travel'...with that, she hung up....I worried all day about her...but at about the same time the next evening she said 'I'm off tomorrow...but he thinks I'm working...can you get me out of here tomorrow?' YEP...I said. No clue if I could, without 10-connecting flights, but told her 'pack NOTHING...so he can't claim theft...just show up at the airport. I'll text you the time, allow for an hour earlier, to process through'...All things said, it took 3-connecting flights and 10-hours. I really didn't know what I'd stepped into, or have a clue how bad it would get...but once it started, I knew 'she would have disappeared, and no one would have cared to help her...she couldn't get out of it!' She filed for divorce a week after arriving...and that gave her 'soon-to-be-ex' her address...then the phone calls started coming...TO ME! Threats of all sorts...him, his family, HER FAMILY...they were all determined HE OWNED HER! What started as 'civil' quickly turned to all-out warfare that ended with recordings, several federal charges (on him), and a direct threat (recorded) of him telling me 'he was coming to terminate me, and tie-her-up and take her back!...not good things to have recorded on interstate phone lines. She was legit...and smart enough to reach out. Most aren't. It took her a long time to 'get her head back on straight'...to remember she was a person, and NO ONE OWNED HER...She now has a good job, a great home...a crazy cat...and most importantly, her self and freedom again. Set me back, buying a new 'toy' by a few months...AND I do get amazing boxes of christmas cookies each year! Odds were 1,000,000:1 it wouldn't have ended so well...and knowing I made the difference...makes all the difference in the world!

Thank you so much for sharing this case! Patti's disappearance has been a case that has angered me for years!!! I really feel one of two scenarios took place. The first and most suspicious to me is that Mr. X's wife was in on the scam from the beginning. $90,000 is an extremely large amount of money!!! I don't buy the wife being oblivious to his affair!!! The other scenario is that Patti was putting pressure on Mr. X to come through on his divorce OR start returning the money be "borrowed". In either scenario, Mr. X (Mr. Lying A. Scumbag) removed Patti from the equation. In my opinion Mrs. X was just as guilty!!! I really hope this case is a priority to law enforcement and Patti's family finds justice!!!! Stay safe, I look forward to your next video!!!

Did they question the friend he claimed to have went to the Burger King with? Also, why would you drive that far to go to a fast food joint? Also, possible the wife could have been in on it if she actually did know about the affair. His entire story sounds highly suspect.

For a person who was able to hold down a great job, own a home and raise a daughter….she didn’t make very good decisions when it came to her own well being. Carrying on with a married man is the worst decision a woman can ever make. Nothing good comes out of it. He, obviously, used her for money and whatever else he could get from her. I’ve had it done to me by someone who was not married. She allowed him to treat her the way he did and she did nothing about it. This could have all been avoided by not having an affair with a married man.

I've seen the episode of Disappeared that features this poor woman's story, and it makes me so angry; it seems totally clear that this man killed her, yet the authorities seem to be unable to do anything because he refuses to talk. I hope they eventually find some evidence against this jackass. I've always wondered if her family could take him to civil court--the burden of proof is a lot less than in criminal court, but he'd have to testify, and sometimes when civil cases are won, authorities/prosecutors will follow up with criminal charges, especially if any incriminating evidence comes to light during the trial.

With all due respect, how “good of a person” could she have been if she was willing to carry on with year long affair with a married man? She didn’t deserve getting strangled by the dude and to have her body buried under some brush, but as soon as she decided to bug the guy about the money that he conned out of her, she had signed her own death warrant. It’s very likely that she had told him something like “You’re Not ever going to leave your wife for me, are you? Then give me back the 90k I have had given you or else I will tell everyone about us. Your wife, your parents, our bosses…EVERYONE!” Having his back against the wall, the guy had to change his tune and he probably said to her “no baby, don’t be like that, you know I only love you! Tell you what; let’s go to the woods for the whole week, just you and me! We will have no one else there but us and after we get back, we…WE MOVE IN TOGETHER!” But he had already decided that she could NEVER come back from that “camping trip!”

There's one glaring question with this case which is where was the boyfriend after leaving work and b4 he returned home? Cause apparently the wife said he didn't come home yet. And did the cops follow his movements and confirm where he went?

It's so unfair that they don't have enough evidence to arrest the "boyfriend". Hopefully they keep working the case and this will change at some point.

I'd arrest him and let the jury sort it out, but D.A.'s don't operate like that. They want evidence, like a body at least, to prove a crime was committed. I'm wondering how the money was transferred to him, ie via check, bank transfers, what?

  • @don17740

@@kwm7895 I thought of that also. Even if she gave him cash, there would be paperwork showing that she withdrew large amounts of money several times.. frustrating!

Please!!! Although this may not relate to this particular story, no one should go into the forest alone or even go with a few people to camp, hike or anything of that nature between now and until right after Halloween. If you don’t know what ritual human sacrifice is, please look into it.

What a shame, she was sucked into a con game by a narcissistic sociopath. How didn’t she get red flags galore with the way he told her to prep for that fateful trip. I want to know that bastard’s name. RIP Patty, see you in Heaven. Did the police ever investigate this situation further? The supposed cabin, the other guy he was with, etc?

According to a comment by Jim Chute, he worked with her at the Honda plant and said there were alot of rumours about her and the man in question, he said his name is Brian Flowers and many are commenting that his wife knew and was probably part of the con to get money from Patti. As far as the Police Department in that area, I pray they replace those involved with this case and get someone with a brain. 20 year's is too long for a grieving family when the truth is locked up in evidence.......smh
