Can you make a video discussing rhythm, practicing with a metronome, and some exercises that are good for improving rhythm and playing with the metronome? You could also briefly cover some music theory related to rhythm. And maybe some sight-reading tips that would help with staying on beat such as reading 1-2 notes in advance to prepare you for the following notes coming up? I really like how you show the different methods for doing the same thing because it allows the viewer to see what works for them best and I can say that I have learned the most from your channel due to this teaching technique which I find far superior to other teaching techniques. Just a little video suggestion, take it how you want. Thank you! PS: Really enjoy your simple straight forward diagrams and edits, very well structured and to-the-point

I got this ligature a conference from a vendor. I loved it. I originally got it for my alto, but got one for for my tenor as soon as I get one. Definitely with the money.

Hi. I like the ligature but unfortunately it doesn't fit all my mouthpieces. It just about fits my Selmer C mouthpiece. I just got a tenor so looking for a good mouthpiece and ligature. Thanks for the comment.

This is a wonderful video. As for me, I absolutely cannot get the plate off of the ligature. I have been here for an hour doing this and am stunned that no matter what I do, it will not come off. This is AMAZING. Be well.

Hi. I hope you finally got the plate off. There was a similar comment posted here by Kristen who had the clarinet version and was having the same problems but eventually got it off through some extreme means. Maybe some ligatures are made tighter than others. Once I got the hang of taking the plates off, it was very easy to do. Maybe the next time you go in your local music shop, show it to them. They could compare it to others. Or get someone else to try. It might be just the way you are doing it. I don't recommend trying to force it off using tools, in case you damage it. I find that this ligature is the best of all my ligatures. The only problem is that it changes colour quickly. My ligature came with a gold pouch and the instruction said that it should be stored in the pouch in order to keep its colour. Thanks for the comment. @@Saxcomprehensive finally, I managed to get it off at about midnight last night. I did not use any tools but I managed to use a good deal of force and it came out. I really don't know what to say other than the fact that there needs to be a better way to manufacture this so there aren't people like me going bonkers wondering what we're doing wrong. Regards! Which of the plate numbering do you recommend for jazz? I use number one with 3 v16 or Zz reeds.

Hi. I play mainly jazz and I use number one as well but I think it is a matter of personal preference. Everybody sounds different or prefer a different sound, and as such will choose different plates. If you notice a difference in sound between the plates, use the one which sounds best to you. I like the ligature because of the way it grips the reed more than the plates and as such I don't change the plates, but I have read comments of some musicians preferring the plate with the four dots.

@@Saxcomprehensive It is interesting to see the different points of view on this. I really appreciate your answer, because it helps me to have a perspective from other mentalities. In my case, I do not have people to advise me on ligatures, I have the optimun and I use it with a beechler diamond inlay s6s, I have not yet found which plate suits it better. The plate number 3 of the points, I feel a difficulty for the flexibility as in the bends, perhaps the mouthpiece does not help me too much. Thank you very much for reading me.

Will it fit in a Berglarson metal mouthpiece ?

Hi. I don't know. The vandoren website says it fits the tenor v16 metal. It would probably not fit small mouthpieces. Its best to contact a shop online.

I asked Vandoren and told me this fits on B flat clarinet mouthpiece, do you happen to have any to try and show us or do you happen to have a clarinetist you know to test that?

Hi. If you go on the Vandoren website and look at the clarinet ligatures you will see the reference codes for the various optimum ligatures they make for the B flat clarinet. They do it in silver, rose gold and black. So long as you choose the right code it will fit the clarinet. There is a different code for saxophones and the other instruments. If you get the B flat optimum clarinet ligature it will fit which is the same design with the 3 plates. However I do not know if the same ligature will fit both a saxophone and a clarinet if you were thinking of using it for both. Thanks.

@@Saxcomprehensive Not exactly. I'm thinking to use this gold Optimum for Alto sax on clarinet mouthpiece and Laurent Sultan told me It fits. I don't think I would like the rose gold clarinet version, gold plated I believe will have a richer sound.

Hi. You can buy them online at Amazon, gear4music, etc. They cost £25-28. Make sure you buy the right plates for your mouthpiece. Thanks.

You must have gotten a special one that works. The plates do not come off. No amount of pushing, twisting of the screw, or prying gets the plate off.

Hi. Sorry to hear that. My plates come off easily. I do not even need to twist the screw. Once I apply pressure to the plate as if pushing it to the middle of the ligature, it pops off, but the twisting motion of the screw makes it easier. Check to see if there is a gap on the plate where the plate wraps around the screw. If there is a gap, the plate should come off. Vandoren tv have a few videos on changing the plates on youtube.

@@Saxcomprehensive To clarify, I have the version for clarinet. Not sure if that makes a difference. I did finally get the plate off after putting the ligature in a vice then using a screwdriver to turn the screw while angling the plate downwards with a lot of pressure. All that aside, it's a nice ligature. :)

@@schreds8882 I first got one a couple years ago and the s reps came off easily, but I have noticed that more recent ones (this year) are much more resistant to changing the plate. Perhaps there was a change in production quality given the increase in demand for these ligatures

@@sequoyahcisneros8719 I put the ligature in a vise then used a small screwdriver to pry it off. Once I got it off then it went on/off more easily. Did the same with the other plates and now they come off with just thumb pressure.

Hi. The screw is under the plate that holds the reed, so the screw is under on this ligature. If you go to the Vandoren website there are pictures of all of their ligatures on a mouthpiece so we can see whether the screws are up or under on all of their products since on other ligatures the screws are up.
