I suggested this as a "first dance" song for my friends' wedding. They never heard Vance's music before, and after listening once they said it was good. Man to me, when I am doing okay and finally feeling at peace, I see a photo or a post or get a text or call from my ex of almost 4 years, and all of the sudden all of these emotions start pouring out again. Seeing her or thinking about her, a lot of times, opens wounds. We broke up a year ago next month, the break up was her choice, but the next day she realized it was a mistake, but I was stubborn and hurt, so I shut her out. We both moved on with other people, but before too long I finally came to terms with how much I messed up in letting her go and finally began to grieve the loss of her. I am mostly moved on now, and she is as well. But hearing this song and a few others always "opens some wounds".

To me, this song sounds like it’s about a desire to repair a broken relationship. The line “Looking like that, you’ll open some wounds” makes me think of an ex that every time I see a photo of her or someone talks about her, the hurt of missing her comes back just a little at a time. So to me, this song is about trying to tell that person that you miss them, you want them back, and you are with them to the end. 💛

It was like a first crush all over again... soul mates

it sounds like what flying and sailing at the same time would be like. cutting through the wind like a wave. it's not heavy and it's not quite hollow. but it has all the feeling of something that's big enough to echo if that makes sense. as hard as you try you can't make a xylophone play dark resonant notes. and though this isn't dark it has a wispy etherealness that hides an edge as if it were a knife made of fog or smoke.

It’s literally the last dance. The photographer makes everyone else go outside prepare for the grand exit, while the bride and groom have a private last dance to end their night. It’s very special and intimate.
