Great ideas, thanks for sharing. So important to share the more affordable options. Especially with the price of fuel and vehicles these days. I down sized from a Hightop campervan to an SUV and I think its great. I've got everything I need. I didn't need to remove any seats so I can still take 4 passengers if I need to. As you say ' why spend money if you don't have to. Happy travels ❤️

I LOVED seeing how you adapted what I did, but with materials that YOU had lying around Susan!!! Hi Jan thank you for this tour, yes, she is so right...just because one has a small car doesnt mean you cant camp in it. My tiny Getz has been set up to accommodate 2 short adults and 1 small dog...my mom wants to see the west coast and we cant afford accommodation so I had to make a plan. Lol. In Michigan they are available at Target and Meijer. My boyfriend uses them for his roofing repair business. We have 3 cats so we have a lot of them. 😊

I’ve been wanting to do this for quite awhile, I follow a lot of the KZread channels and dream about traveling and camping and going to some of the women’s meetups but I can’t afford to buy a van or mini van. But after seeing your set up I think I can do this with my Honda Civic. Thank you for showing us your car set up, you have inspired me to give it a go with my car.

Great video and Susan is very inspiring! I couldn't help but hear the dog barking in the background practically the whole time. One of my pet peeves when camping in my van. People who let their dogs bark incessantly. So annoying.

That's a good setup! I slept in the back of my Kluger, and it was spacious and comfortable with a full size single mattress, but it was awkward to climb into the front seat.

I think the bed she made was smaller than a commercial mattress. That probably made it easier to get in front. 🙂

@@ButterflyTracks Yes, and the main difference is she had the front seat laid back, whereas I had mine upright and had to climb between the two front seats over the glove box. Awkward. She did well for a small car setup!

She didn't say on camera but she parks where public restrooms are or goes in the woods when camping. That's hard-core camping. We had real restrooms at the meetup.

What a great set up! Great to see all the different options available. On a side note...As much as I love dogs, I couldn't do a get together like this because of the dogs barking. I hate this about myself, but that would drive me insane.

My small car the seats do not go all the way flat in the back or front. My front seats don’t fall down like that so my bed option is not good.

How tall are you?? I am 5'10" and I did it in my Toyota Corolla!

I heard her explain how her passenger seat reclines all the way back but not everyone's passenger seat does that. You can only be confortedable if your seat relines all the way back like her's does. Mine does not. It is a flaw of the passenger seat of a Toyota Tacoma Pick-up truck! I would have liked to do it though if it had reclined all the way though!!

My front seat doesn't go all the way down which is why it needs to rest on back seat for support and then you build it up. Watch video on marenmakesit --she does step by step tutorial. That is how I learned to do it.

I have met some car campers that remove the passenger seat and build a platform. I know that doesn't work for everyone.
