You struggle to resist this nature of ours, but it can't last forever, D. The urge for their blood is stronger. When that day comes, another will hunt me. It's as simple as that.

Wow the voice acting is pretty decent. D feels more like he's the boss instead of the bosses.

Wow this game actually looks awesome! It was ripped apart badly in reviews by just about every gaming magazine when it came out, so I never even thought much about it or gave it a chance.

If you don't mind tank controls it's pretty solid, give it a shot if you have a chance. Although fair warning, if you expect it to follow the story of the movie, it's not quite on script for it. They had to fit it all inside the castle proper. You DO get to play as Leila for a while though, which is literally bringing a gun to a swordfight lol.

Hence you never ever go and believe a gaming magazine. You go and test out the game first yourself. Thus a game they are praising might be actually shit, while a game they are tearing up is actually good. Many such cases sadly.

@@CommanderBohnStill true today. Whether it’s in a magazine or on a website, the only real way to decide the value of something for yourself, is to get hands on with it and find out. Sure, it may be trial and error, and that can be expensive. But there’s no other way to truly know than to get in there and decide for yourself. So many just want to be “influenced” and told what to buy/not buy, but that’s a good way to miss out on something *you* might enjoy, because you’re trusting the views of someone else who isn’t you. I can tell you for certain, if I listened to reviews every time, I would have missed out on games I love. I go with my gut every time and seek out things that bring me joy, something I think I will enjoy and have fun with. Do that, rarely will you ever go wrong. Always better to have taken the chance than not at all.

@@Kerunou I'd say that applies to pretty much ALL media with ALL forms of critique. Hell, I myself had a similar positive experience with RWBY recently, despite the constant backlash from much of KZread and Reddit (do NOT get me started on that....). Moral of the story: Don't judge a book by it's cover OR by it's reputation, or risk missing something worth the experience

i played this game as a teen when it came out. Absolutely hated it. It's a terrible game and a really bad representation of that story. It's "good" for you only because of a current PS1 lowpoly horror hype.
Finally....shadow play his own game.
Oh I didn't know they made it into a game!
Overlooked and underrated game. Yes, the controls may seem cumbersome, but because it is so representative of a psx game, its the nostalgia that wins in the end.
Ironically you can literally just turn around and leave the second Machira fight, and he just... vanishes, despite the big brag at the start of the fight.
I just had to watch the movie again after watching this video, so good :')
I've been waiting for this!
Haha, I'm guessing this one's close to your heart. Tell me, did you like the original D or Bloodlust more? I can never decide.

nice! I remember buying this from blockbuster back in the day when they were clearing out old stock. love this game!
I would love a new updated vampire Hunter D game done in the fashion of maybe a bloodborne title where you're going through a dark gothic world with really cool combat in abilities and you can even use different weapons even though I know d is known for using mainly his sword You could make the exception just for the game and the sake of variety and you could have it so he goes into feeds different creatures of the night

No, no more Soulslike, Vampire Hunter D will have a combat like Devil May Cry or Nioh, With fast and fluid combat, but without losing the gothic touch that characterizes the game.

That castle had an interesting style of gothic and 90s cyberpunk in it's architecture. I am not familiar with Vampire Hunter D, so I'm curious whether that was part of the design choices of that series.
I just finished rewatch this movie today this franchise need more movie 😊
I played this game many years ago back in 2000
thanks for this. I had the game but couldnt stand playing it
If the tank controls are more fluid than those I've alway experienced, I honestly like how... methodical or fencing-like the fighting looks. Gives it some neat level of grace, y'know?
Nice ;) 👍

Well, looks like this is where Shadowserg got his profile from. Nice to see it at last. A couple comments: First, anyone else notice that each character is fought exactly twice? Second, I noticed an oddity that occurs during a couple battles (most notably a couple against Machira like 7:03; I thought I first noticed it during the second Benge fight, but now I can’t find it§) where you manage to hit twice with one sword slash; it does damage twice and you can hear the double hit effect. Probably just a collision detection quirk. Third, while technical limitations make it acceptable, the limited camera angles can get aggravating; in particular, the second Carmilla fight gets really disorienting when you have to run circles around the arena while going through several different camera angles that likely mess up your controls. Fourth, during that battle, why did it take so long to start attacking her directly instead of just hitting her claw? Fifth, I noticed a VP meter below HP that fills up with attacks but doesn’t seem to be used for anything, and a meter at the bottom left that slightly drains over time but also isn’t used; what are those? You just labeled this a no-damage run, but is there also a no-magic/special-weapons restriction? Sixth, Carmilla looks like an idiot in her first fight; you’d think she’d stop firing those orbs after you used them to hit her the first time. §Found it; it was during the first Benge fight around 3:20.
The OG Devil May Cry.
You finally got to the game from your pic. I'm proud of you.
they seriously need to give this the devil may cry ps2 era, fixed camera angle and everything treatment. this would be a nice remake for sure.
Oh hey! Is this your profile pic? Cool!

This game had multiple endings (3, IIRC)- this is the bad one, which you get if everyone dies. The good ending, which you get if you save Leila from dying and let Meier Link and Charlotte go, (mostly) follows the movie ending. The middle ending, which I think is if you save Leila but still kill Meier, is basically the same as the good ending, but Leila's dialog is different. I can't recall the exact differences between endings, or even all the steps necessary to get which ending, because it's been like 20 years since I owned/played this. But as soon as I saw the room where he fought Machira, I knew this was a "bad ending" run. Weirdly enough, whichever ending track you were on also changed where some of the boss fights happened, and I think the better endings actually had you fight MORE of the Marcus brothers, but again.. it's been a LONG time since I played it.
