For the opener, you can actually plant the Starry Muse in the middle of the room and plant yourself inside the NW or NE corner of it and not get hit by any icicles, letting you get 5 hyperphantasia casts in time before you actually need to move. However, I personally did activate Starry Muse slightly early (no Holy pre-burst) to make it safer. I've found out that overall, you can plant Starry Muse, but if mechs force you out of it, you can Hammer until you get a chance to get back inside it because Hammers don't spend hyperphantasia, and the dps buff is raidwide, not attached to the circle. Very useful for the fire puddles, which happen exactly as your 2 min burst comes back, so I'll Starry Muse -> Hammer -> spend 5 stacks after puddles have resolved.

You can also start at the south side of the arrow of the boss ring, after the first 2 casts of your basic opener move north of it (after the second line goes off) while doing your stars, then cast another, move to side with comet and back to the north side of it with rainbow drip, it's tight but incredibly satisfying to pull off. Before someone showed me this i was screaming at this fight and i've been zen ever since.

Glad to see you're enjoying picto man, the blm changes scared the crap out of me and i was afraid i'd never find a class that i'd enjoy as much as blm but picto has been surprisingly fun and i hope it's doing the same for you. Cheers

@@whatneutral I was about to say this lmfao, it still hits just fine and will get potency upgrades soon but it's just not as fun to play anymore. It was my fav job and am now converted to picto, it's just so much more fun than current BLM.

This is the first expansion I haven't main'd BLM. Picto has been a lot of fun and I'm glad we finally have another caster that puts out as much DMG as the melee. Hoping you upload a guide for picto soon!

I cleared it with blm the second day of ea. All I got out of it was a headache. If they buff xeno to 1000 potency and flare star to 800 maybe it's worth it...

Can you cast mid-animation? PCT seems to have an animation tax with that hammer :> (also the Philosophia heals from SGE o-o, if you cast a motif you get a heal o-o).

@@TheArnoldification but every preparation spell takes so long. You have to cast a motif that does no damage a lot of times and the final spell still has a long animation. Does the ogcds cancel the full animation? I wasn't paying too much attention in the video :(

@@shiningdahlia the prep casts are a bit longer than your gcd, so its basically the equivalent of hardcasting a despair outside of leylines for a frame of reference. The gcd for them is also longer than the cast time which means you can single weave an ogcd right after without clipping. The painting ends up being quite forgiving because you have a lot of bankable movement with white paint and your hammer combo on top of 40s swiftcast. Pictos also benefit from phase transitions because you can pretty easily paint all 3 canvases during that window. Theres a little bit of planning involved but its ultimately pretty chill and forgiving once you understand the cadence of the job

@@TheArnoldification got it, I just saw an opening tutorial so it makes more sense seeing the holy/comet spells. Upgrading Swiftcast to 40s makes more sense as well, I forgot about that. Thanks for the info!

Unfortubately for me I dislike the aesthetic so I will probably just stick to viper and hope they un-ruin black mage eventually lol

If Picto doesn't get nerfed HARD before the raid releases, it will probably be a must have, given that damage output

It’s not. If u watch fflog BLM is still better in rdps. And considering the extreme trial are really not friendly for BLM I think the gap in favor of BLM will be even greater in savage.

Getting bitter BLM vibes. Why the caster role is doomed. Always crying for nerfs and wanting only BLM ahead by a mile, while with melee nobody expects SAM to sit 1k ahead of the rest of melee. How about buffing the other casters for a change, all the classes should be putting numbers close to melee.

@@lucanastral735 Then buff the BLM damage, don't nerf the picto. Picto is behind Viper, Sam, and Reaper in aDPS. It is barely top rdps. Are we really not allowed to have casters on top other than black mage when melee no longer have any serious downtime, have usually 15k more HP and far better self sustain with bloodbath+second wind while casters are squishier, have 1-2 min cd shields and only BLM matches melee while taking more effort, and the other casters are rotting in the gutter with dancer/mch/brd? I'm sick of melee supremacy. A RDM or Summoner should not be doing 1k DPS less or even more than melee while being squishier on top. A rez 2 healers can easily cover is NOT worth doing 1k+ DPS gap, just remove it. Picto is the only caster that feels powerful and competitive with melee, and instead of asking for other casters to be brought in line, bitter BLMs would rather see all casters below the melee so long as they are above them.

OFC u are free to play wathever u enjoy. But I feel a bit sad that the greatest BLM player himself don’t play it. BLM was always about finding a way, and seeing the Chad himself not doing that makes me sad 😔. Hope you’ll make soon make BLM videos. I think that what your public is waiting for.

Unfortunately there's just not a lot going for BLM now. To be more concise, the dawntrail changes were specifically catered towards preventing passionate players from "finding a way". I think there's nonstandard stuff in the aoe rotation because they fucked it up so bad it's a potency loss to actually cast hf2/hb2 according to some people but otherwise it's extremely rigid currently.

Finding a way isn't a thing on blm anymore that's why people converted to picto, including myself. It's SE's fault for turning one of the most beautifully designed classes ever in an mmo into a straight forward one way or nothing kind of class with a more frustrating execution and no freedom for theorycrafting. They fucked up honestly.

Its so sad how blm has to do so much to even do optimal dps and picto joes goes, throws skme paint messes up a lot and still Top dps. If blm doesnt get at least some buffs it will get excluded from most groups ans definitely nobody will want it on PF :(

Everytime someone campaigns to make blm easier/more forgiving, you people swarm and shut them down. Because you want the job to stay hard as an excuse to hold monopoly on top caster dps. You want caster imbalance to stay, just in your favor.

BLM brings no utility, its still a hard class to use for new people and definitely has an interesting learning curve if you have never played it. then again all of this was justified with BLM being a pretty good dps and usually on top of others. right now BLM is on a really BAD spot because all those things i mentioned are still present BUT Pictomancer does WAAAY more dps, brings utility to the group and also has way more options for movement that have no risk at all and also its quite an easy class to learn. so when did i say i want the job to stay hard? wtf what has this to do with the job being on a bad spot where why would you bring a blm when you can just bring a Picto do you understand that??? (RDM and SMN dont suffer from this since they have utility and can ress)

BLM is still far ahead of SMN and RDM by a landslide and we don't see you complaining about that. Everytime someone asks for BLM to be made easier, to extend the timers or reduce cast times, ya'll come out and scream bloody murder, L2P, but then want to turn around and use the job's cumbersome difficulty to justify keeping SMN and RDM under your boot.

Eksu is just playing what they find fun, are they not allowed to do that just because blm players are feeling insecure rn that their class is not the best caster? That is of course subjective and I dont absolutely hate DT blm, but you can not deny it is not as fun and fluid as picto is, so no wonder lots of blm players are swapping or trying picto at least. This is not some kind of a protest or people abandoning blm, it is just because picto is more enjoyable and fun to play than current blm. No one is doing this to shit on people who stil like or want to play blm lol

Some people have, its like, OMG the job is dead etc. When I first entered this community 10 year ago, BLM players always found a way to move ahead when non was visible, that's why I've stuck with the class in addition to genuinely loving it. Eksu showed me that BLM's are and always will be badasses, and can master end game content like any job. I never felt it was a protest, or abandoning it. Picto is great, and I am not taking away anything from PCT at all. I'm using it also, but BLM is still my main, always will be. Perhaps, I didn't express it as concisely as I should have, but I just want to see if Eksu can find a way to show us, that despite the questionable job changes, BLMs can still reign in end game content. And that the job isn't a meme.

Hopefully SE listens to the caster babies and gives BLM 30 stacks of triple cast and 2500 potency fire4s so they can go back to how they were.

bro, people are not jumping ship because black mage is not top damage, they are jumping ship because it is not the same anymore. It is not as fun and fluid as it was in EW whilst pictomancer is almost on par imo. I was a black mage lover for the whole of EW, but picto is honestly ten times more fun and seems to have some room for great optimizations. I will personally be playing it for DT instead of blm regardless of their damage outputs.

If you wanted to just play a job for high dps why not SAM? It was competing closely with BLM and is generally a lot easier to optimize. It's not all about dps, it's also about how the job feels to play, which is in a bad spot right now. It's just clunky and extremely fight dependant to the point what they did with BLM is more reminiscent with heavensward job balancing than anything else lol

I don't even care about dmg, blm to me was quite hard to play and that's a challenge, I got to use my brain, now everything is dumb down and I need to follow a clear instruction to play. Now it's all the same with other jobs.
