VALENCIA: Random Tram Game along route 6 and I discover Levante UD.

Sometimes the Random Tram Game strikes gold. Sometimes not. I roll the dice and whatever number comes up corresponds with a tram route. We then go exploring. I find a 16th century monastery, the home ground of Levante UD, and an absolutely beautiful local district down by the beach.

I think these are the videos I look forward to the most, it's always good to see something off the normal tourist traps and you never know what gems you'll find.

When your later adult life is dominated by the "random tram game" the grim reaper is no doubt in the tram just behind you waiting for the right moment to say "g'day."

As a Valencian I'm relieved that you didn't have to go to the end of Line 4. That area is known for being among the worst in our region. Very entertaining to see my city through the vision of a foreigner. Great video!!

Por desgracia no es música típica valenciana. El extranjero debe fijarse más en la diversidad española. Es como si le pones música de gaitas a los ingleses

Hi Scott. The oranges taste very bitter, because they aren't oranges for eating purposes. Some hundred(s) of years ago, some regional king (kings) thought about displaying the oranges of the region growing even in the city's. The problem of course, people would just pick em and eat them. Solution, cross breed those oranges of those trees for "display" only purpose with lemon 🍋, and not many people really fancied to pick them anymore to eat while walking thru the city's (also in Sevilla for example). So, those oranges are an orange lemon mix breed, orange appearance but lemon taste. Bon appetit 😋😉😃

Yet another great video Scott. I really like the way you show us around - particularly away from the usual tourist areas - and what a brilliant idea the tram game is. Love the magnificent old buildings, and what stunning colours captured brilliantly by you in the winter sunshine. As always, keep up the good work. Best regards. Vivian

Great video, Scott! Coincidentally, you walked right past our flat next to the renamed Metro station of Grau La Marina. We've lived here for 2 years and it's a great city and the locals are very nice indeed. BTW, we now have 10 Metro/tram lines since your video was filmed. The city reorganised the whole network last year and added a brand new line (Line 10) whose terminus is near Bailen Railway station. Really enjoying all your videos about Valencia city and the towns not too far away, especially Xativa which is stunning. Next time you visit VLC, it's definietly worth a visit to the small city of Cuenca which you can reach quite quickly on one of the AVE trains operating on the Valencia-Madrid mainline 👍

I was in Valencia February 2019, it has some loverly building and corners, a few rough ones too. The taxi driver gave me an orange after I gave hims a tip, I walked on the beach you found. Also went to the Ocean Theme Park, well worth the visit! Weather was very pleasant (for February) but did get chilly at night. Pity you did not get to the centre of the city with the wonderful indoor market so typical of Spanish cities.

Great video! Love the random tram game, and would love to try it some day myself. However, may I reccomend using dice meant for role playing games. Usually, you can get containers of them which have 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 20 sided dice. Could be useful for locations with more than 6 lines, as using multiple 6 sided dice, you are more likely to roll a number of the average.

I don't think Valencia/ Seville oranges were developed for marmalade, it was the other way round. Modern orange marmalade, the type we have with breakfast actually originates from Dundee. Can't believe you missed out on the rice museum though, that sounds fascinating, almost as good as the Prune museum in Agen.

The Random Tram Game is a lot of fun! Thanks, Scott, for making a point for me that I made in my video today that travelers need to be prepared for the possibility that masks are still required in some places. I had a viewer comment that they chose not to subscribe to my channel because we were wearing masks in a video I filmed in March 2022 in a place where masks were still required!

I can't believe nearly 2 years after they stopped in the UK, there are still countries like Spain and Germany with mask mandates for public transport. On the other hand I'd probably put up with it if we could have as many tram networks as other European countries, the UK truly is pathetic in that regard. I think Spain has 7 metro (underground) networks too. Networks not single lines or one splitting into 2, we really only have 1 underground network in the UK.

I’m the opposite opinion, getting rather fed up with people on trains and buses sneezing all over people including someone today sitting behind me on a bus sneezed and I felt it all over the back of my neck. Think I’ve had 4 colds now thanks to arrogant people can’t be arsed to use a tissue

Surprised to see they still have a mask mandate on the trams. Seems OTT these days. Assuming Spain and Germany will get rid of these rules soon? EDIT - Spain removed theres in early February. And also Germany have as well. Back to normality. 👍
