    I highly considered this or the gen 1 back a few months ago when I was looking for scopes. I ended up opting for another because of lack of info out there. But I'm super excited they're getting you two set up with one for testing and r&d.

    Thanks for the info on the scope. It is FFP but I like that they utilize very fine crosshairs. I’ve always preferred very fine crosshairs. I even used to use a true 1/4 minute dot. Ah. Someone shortened the case of what I did with the 404 and later case formed the Ultramag. I’m sure they left the base of the Ultramag case alone. I have to base form my Ultramag cases 1.5 thousand for positive feed. Yeah that is a nice little case. Very efficient combustion chamber.

    Hey Mark, IOR might just be the ones to ask. Since they are obviously interested in your feedback and they already are using etched reticles, ask them if they could make a hybrid scope. Use a small second focal plane center crosshair reticle and a 1st focal plane indexed MOA or Mil retical. I think that might hust fill the bill. All indexing would be correct at any magnification and the center would remain very fine.

    Hi Kevin, this scope is actually not IOR, it is Valdada, and unlike the RECON G-1 they had this one made in Japan, not by IOR, but I regardless prefer a full reticle that doesn't change with power, just me maybe, but I hear what you are saying, Cheers

    Hey Mark, have you ever tried setting your rifle just right onto a solid object so that your folded bipod (front of the gun) hits against the solid object and you can't pull the gun back, 100% solid. No recoil. The gun can't move back because it's hitting on a solid flat object like handrail or window opening.

  • @markandsamafterwork

    @markandsamafterwork

    Yes there is no felt recoil like that, not great for accuracy like that but, Cheers

    What bullet are you loading in that 6.5GAP-RSAUM and at what muzzle velocity to stay supersonic out to 3k yards? Or is it not staying supersonic? I’m assuming it’s staying supersonic since you are looking for accuracy at that distance. Edit: And IF it’s going fast enough to stay supersonic, what do you expect Barrel life to be with a load that hot?

  • @markandsamafterwork

    @markandsamafterwork

    As said in video, those are loaded with 150gr SMK's and we have not fired this yet, otherwise, no they will not stay supersonic out there, as in all our ELR stuff they will be going subsonic way before that. FYI, not all, but most bullets we have used are still accurate after going through the transonic zone, I know a lot of folks otherwise, but we have a lot of videos to prove this, hope that makes sense, Cheers and all the best.

    What a great feature set on a top of the line scope for what you’re doing. The 150 moa of adjustment sounds very appealing and I would love to get one or at least try one as well. Is there an email address I can ask you guys a few questions on?

    Very cool Mark, I had no idea Val made this scope in Japan and was confused as to what the link was to IOR. I guess there is none, other than some small mechanical similarities. I use the March 10-60x56mm High Master with a Rechnagel (Era-tac) adjustable with the Charlie Tarac. I was going to do a video soon on how I use that system. I know many ELR shooters who have put down the big $$$$ and are waiting on the Genesis, which still hasn't shipped yet. It also uses an ultra fine FFP reticle, which is the wave of the future. But this Valdada seems to be a very cool alternative. As we all know, it comes down to if it can track across those 150 minutes! Let us know how it performs.

    Hi Chris, the Gen1 of the RECON and a lot of the other Valdada scopes are made at IOR, not sure of all the details, but this scope seems good so far, and yes from what I have seen of the design of the Genesis, I'm not sure it is quite what people think it might be, but I have heard the design has been changing and will wait and see just what it a developed into, Cheers

    Valdada (Val Leatu) only used the reputation created by IOR Bucharest Romania ,with 40mm scopes/FFP (Crusader 5.8-40×56 , Recon 4-28x50, Nemesis 9-36x56 ,TERMINATOR 12-52X56) promoting a different product…. SHAME ON YOU Valdada

    @@xalex112 Not sure man, but I think the Val got IOR to build he first RECON scope and then after having some issues with supply, deciding to remedy this he chose to get the second version built by a Japanese factory, using German schott glass in everyway bar the front focal to make there recon G2 scopes with lower costs and more availability, probably a lot more to the story but I think that is at least part the deal, Cheers

    Hi mark and Sam, nice informative video as always, I have a question for you about the moa on the rails/rings/mounts, that scope has 150moa adjustment, so your mounting it with 75moa built in. Is that so the scopes dials are basically turned all the way to zero when shooting at 100yrds? Then you have an extra 150moa adjustment in the scope itself for shooting further? Sorry if that is hard to understand, I’ve purchased some parts to do a build of my own, already got some parts, now looking at a nightforce atacr moar scope, but yet to buy mounts, thanks for the info, it is really appreciated

    Hi Mark, great vid, keep up the good work🙂 One small correction, and it is a common mistake, scope tube diameter has got nothing to do with the amount of light which can be transfered to the human eye. It is all about the exit pupil and light transmission (quality) of the lenses. Exit pupil is objective diameter divided by magnification, e.g. a 8x56 scope has got a 56÷8=7mm exit pupil regardless of the tube diameter. (The max. eye pupil diameter is about 7mm for a young pair of eyes, however it degrades when people get older.) The higher the magnification for a given objective diameter, the "darker" a scope will get. That's the result of the exit pupil of the scope becoming smaller than the pupil of your eye, it is not able to transfer more light to your eye anymore resulting in a darker image🙂

    That's incorrect, the size of the elements within the tube effect the light coming from the Objective lens. Larger tube elements mean less distortion on the edges of the image and a slight improvement in transmission. Source: Leupold engineer.

    Hey Mark I am looking at building my first rifle for long range hunting and shooting. My question is on the control box when you set your zero stop at 100 yards but on the dialer it doesnt go to zero. Does that bother you. My OCD it would drive me nuts seeing that it's not on zero for my zero.

    So is that kind of the rule of thumb with your rail and scope combo?? If you have say have 150 moa of internal adjustment you can run a 60 or 70 moa rail and still zero at 100 yards and get full use out of all your internal adjustment??
