Vacuum Plenum cut

Finally got around to cutting the plenum for the vacuum hold down system for this build.
Basically it's a gridwork cut into the main table surface with through holes, that are plumbed with PVC pipe to a manifold then connected to a vacuum source. This one is separated into four zones, each tied directly to individual shut off valves, then dumped into the manifold. Each zone can be shut off to divert suction to the others.
Larger machines use expensive centrifugal pumps to provide the suction but this one is run by a large shop-vac motor.

Router is ok? Sounds rough with the plunge?

Ridgidity= zero. Look at that spindle wobble at 0:32 !

Well, not exactly zero but yeah less than needed. This cut (at faster speeds and a deeper cut, with a dull ass bit and 12yo router) was an excellent stress test for this little system regardless. When I can find it, I'll share the plenum cut video I have on a CaMaster Cobra 510 with a 6hp spindle. It had wobble on the cross cut too.

well its a router, not a mill. accuracy isn't the main point of the machine. with a gantry that long ofc there's deflection. but its great for its purpose
