    Almost 30 years experience here. But I have to agree that it’s unnecessarily for the truckees to stay up there. It’s vented, it’s abandoned, it’s a total loss. Prevent extension to exposures and call it a day. Why risk firefighters for no reason? Just my 2 cents. Be safe guys!

    Its just a shame we see so many firefighters killed or injured needlessly on derelict structures that aren't worth the risk they are taking. Even if the fire was stopped in place most of these would only be torn down later.

    What is it with LA and going up on unstable roofs? It has already self-vented!

  • @joshroten3997

    @joshroten3997

    2 жыл бұрын

    It was not unstable. It needed additional vertical ventilation to improve conditions for members going inside. Look closely: as soon as they start opening the roof, the heavy, pressurized smoke showing from the doorway almost goes away because now that heat and smoke are going out the vent holes. That is how it is truly supposed to work.

    1:20 Okay! The hole is cut, and the smoke continues out the front door unabated. So, what was the reason for all those children to climb on the roof of a burning building? The fire in the rear which should have been addressed from the rear, is only getting bigger. 2:10 Now they have the attic burning really good, so it is now a Structural fire. 3:00 The fire is still burning like a SOB. The water that IDIOT is squirting is NOT getting on any of the materials throughout the attic. It is JUST wetting down the materials in his Line of Sight. These are idiotic children, not firefighters and definitely not heroes. If they were at all competent and responsible, they would have gone straight to the rear and would have stopped the threat.

    You push/fight the fire from the uninvolved towards the involved, not the other way around. That also helps to set-up getting a line between any occupants and the fire. But it sounds like you know all about firefighting so carry on.

    @@joshroten3997 Go investigate the tactics that kill firefighters on the job. They are based in unnecessarily dangerous positioning of firefighters. Every residential structure has at least one egress window in every liveable room. That means the vast majority of the fire can be extinguished from the exterior. Think about this. What sense does it make to stand inside the fire and combustible gases to put them out? Want to get steamed, do it that way?
