Sam Merrill is one heck of a ball player. Probably the best all around player USU has suited up in a long time.
People calling this a bad loss for SDSU are clueless. USU was top 25 (getting as high as 15th) for a 3rd of the season. They had some bad conference losses when everybody was injured or carrying a knock (Merrill, Queta, Porter, Miller, etc.) They have quadrant 1 wins against LSU and Florida. They lost to BYU when Queta had been back for a week after a 4 month injury. Queta played very timidly during that game. Also, Queta is 2 years away from potentially being an NBA lottery pick. They have a top ten player in the country in Merrill. Both USU vs SDSU games were closer than the scoreline suggested but SDSU pulled away with free throws in the dying minutes. USU is probably closer to a 10 or 12 seed which still isn't great for the SDSU resume but let's not take away from the fact that USU is a very good team.

That last 3 for Merrill was amazing... I'm surprised the announcers didn't comment more on the fact that he made it while being fouled (that wasn't called). What a great win for the Aggies!

The Aggies overcame some bias officiating to win that game. Even that final shot was an obvious and 1.
That SDSU team 30-2 was so fun to watch I remember being there through their whole win streak 26-0 it was crazy!! What a year that was time fliess but that year will be remembered forever🔥🔥🔥
Heartbreaking loss for the Aztecs. Flynn had an off game with his outside shooting (especially at the early stages when they could have broken the game completely wide open). Hopefully they'll learn from this loss, hustle more to guard shooters (that three at the end of the 1st half changed the momentum of the game). Hats off to the Aggies and Merrill, one of the gutsiest performances of the year that I've seen. Go Mountain West in the big dance!
