Teddy's thesis that "Usyk always finds a way to win" is the most apt characterisation of all. I admit that in the middle of the fight I was burning: "he's indeed a bit small" - I thought. But then... The Winner.

Same here. I thought for a moment that he's gonna be crushed by Fury's size and strength, but then he just switch to another gear. He reminded me of Joe Frazier. He was like "I might get beaten up, but I'm just gonna keep on coming at you, rise the pace even more and see if you can coupe with that much pressure". And Fury couldn't keep up.

@t.d6379 Yeah, what you just said wasn't true. Fury backed out of the Saudi deal and claimed he wanted to fight in the U.K. Tried to change the already agreed upon terms and 70/30'd Usyk. At which point Usyk called his bluff and accepted. Sugar even said I'm not even training Tyson right now. That statement blew Tysons whole facade wide open. Tyson was finally backed into a corner and couldn't run anymore. It's funny you called the other guy a fan boy 😆.

@G35149 okay so why did Alex krasik admit to what I just say, which you called untrue? It's common knowledge the Wembley April fight fell out of bed because Usyk wanted a rematch and the 70/30 to spin to the winner (which I actually agree with) and Fury said no rematch and Usyk went and signed with the earlier Saudie outfit and Fury was left to fight someone else instead.

I scored the fight 8-4 for Usyk, (Fury winning 4, 5, 6 and 7) so 116-111. Apparently a lot of people gave Fury the 3rd. I didn't see it that way, but I was just watching online. Still, even after the second and third viewing, I couldn't see Fury winning the 3rd round. And I really love both of these fighters, so I don't think I had any biased one way or the other.

I thought Usyk had the 3rd too, but I was with 5 other friends watching it live, (mostly Fury fans) who claimed it was Fury's round. Even though I am British, I wanted Usyk to win, so maybe some bias played a part in many people's analysis, without us even realising it. I haven't re-watched the whole fight again yet though, just a few highlights.

I thought Usyk won but it was arguably close, with several debatable rounds. 3 and 12 can swing to Fury, and a lot of people scored it that way. All three judges gave round 12 to Fury. That would make it 114-113 Usyk, which was one of the cards. Some disagreement about rounds 2 and 10, but most lean Usyk. Some debate about 7 too, with all three judges (and you and others) giving it to Fury, but some insist it was Usyk's round.

The few rounds Fury won easily in the 5th and 6 th he threw looping right hands and looping upper cut right hand. Problem is that those 2 rounds were the ONLY 2 rounds he threw those looping right hands. If you watch the fight again you will see Fury did not throw looping right hand in any other rounds. That’s why he lost. He let Usyk into the fight by NOT throwing that looping right hand in EVERY round. Not sure why Fury stopped throwing right hands or why he waited until round 5 to start throwing it. Very disappointing.

Eh, Teddy speaks a decent amount of rubbish. For example, he was going on here about how Futy is the example of never giving up on life. No, that is comically wrong. Fury beat Klitschko, tested positive for PEDs, paid off some farmer to say he sold him contaminated meat, received a 2 year ban, then went on a 2 year bender, gained a ton of weight, then came back using mental health as an excuse for his lack of discipline. Fury is an example of someone who lacks discipline, is narcissistic, and is bipolar. He has actually given up on himself a ton of times - that manifests itself through him constantly getting out of shape, then needing to get back into shape, etc. The most consistent thing about Fury is his inconsistency and bipolar nature.

When Usyk sent Fury to dreamland, it reminded me of Fury vs Chisora 1 where Chisora surprised Fury in the 10 round on the ropes. I believe Usyk knew of this possibility or at least it came to him in the instance. Fury has a bad habit of dropping his hands when fighting on the inside. Like he is just toying with his opponent and Usyk made him pay like no one before. I don't think Fury truly believed Usyk could hurt him. Cost him the fight in my opinion.

The other side of the coin, to Usyk "knowing how to win," is Usyk "refusing to let a loss happen" - refusing to lose - finding ways of changing the direction or momentum of the fight when he's losing. Yes, he wants to win. At the same time, he wants very badly NOT to lose. He refuses to let that happen. He finds a way to stop that from happening, to reverse that train, stop or derail it. And that's exactly what he did.

As a cruiserweight, Usyk was more a counter puncher, but as a heavyweight, he has realised he has a significant speed advantage, which has led to an extremely aggressive style. He relentlessly pressured Fury until he started making mistakes. Having said that, I was also surprised by how confident Fury was. Fury was convinced he'd walk through Usyk. And there was a time it looked like he would. But he probably tired, and the mistakes crept in. I think Fury has a good chance in the rematch. But so does Usyk. I am certain the rematch will NOT go the distance, either way. Usyk doesn't need to do the rematch. He has everything you lose, and everyone runs out of luck, eventually.

A lot of people dogging the ref but I actually thought he played round 9 perfectly. He could have called a KD a couple times earlier when Fury stumbled backwards into the ropes, but it was debatable and he gave as much opportunity for the fight to play out as he could. That exchange was pretty amazing because Fury got rocked and was stumbling but he was still upright on his legs trying to slip punches and get it together. And each time it looked like maybe he'd get it together Usyk cracked him with 2 or 3 more perfect precision shots that sent him stumbling again. The ref let these play out, either Fury finds a way to recover or he gets knocked down or out. But when Fury fell into the corner ropes that last time it was different. There his knees were buckled in an almost sitting position, shoulders in the ropes and his head hanging on the top rope. He had fallen there and was only not on the canvas because the ropes hung him up. That's a rulebook KD, and the ref had to intervene there. It was a defenseless position and a knockdown under the rules. I think Usyk also knew this which is why he let up. Letting Usyk keep punching at that point would have been like letting him punch a guy on a knee or on the canvas. The ref had to move there, he stayed hands-off as long as he could but he could no longer let it play out there. Of course he could have waved off the fight there, it's his call, but he had to either do that or call the KD, and he took the less extreme of the two measures available, which was the right move imo. It resolved the situation with the lesser intervention and we got to see the rest of the fight play out.

The fast hands and the counterpunching would fade away fast in an all-out toe-to-toe brawl, with Fury rocking Usyk repeatedly. That would then enable Fury to follow up, capitalize and take him down. Fury would have to weather some blows, but Usyk is not a power puncher, and Fury is huge and can weather a lot, especially at the beginning when he's fresh. If Fury went all-in, balls out, for a knockout from the opening bell, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Fury could knock Usyk out in one or two rounds. The rematch will be interesting. And I hope it happens.

It is pathetic isn't it? I remember it being a big deal in 1999, because it had been about 7 years. Started when Bowe dumped belt in garbage, and got worse after Foreman got stripped, etc. But a quarter century??? Big problem was Wlad reigning for so long, but Vitaly holding WBC and the brothers never were gonna fight. Then Wilder got hold of it and was never going to unify what became a 4-belt issue. Good grief.

Boy Teddy really..' 'in his superb way ' ..laid it all out there so brilliantly that I was a little dismayed by his final statement.. That Usyk had the ability to find a way to win.. Teddy picked Usyk. Not only was Teddy right about the outcome..he was spot on with how Usyk would do it...which came down to finding a way to win ..yep that's how Usyk stayed the giant..he found a way to win... In regards to measurable/non measurable things, case in point, the great Larry Bird, Larry Legend. He wasn't the strongest, he sure wasn't the fastest on the court, he couldn't jump that high, but he was a hustler, he was the absolute winner, he was leading by example, he took a whole bunch of rebounds, hit clutch shots/passes very often. When the game was on the line, no one else even thought of having the ball in his hands, and more often than not, Larry would find a way to make the Celtics win.

Great insight from Mr. Atlas. In particular, highlighting the fact that Usyk could have thrown one more punch to finish Fury off in the 9th before the judge jumped in. And he deliberately didn’t do it, and still won! This suggests this wasn’t a close fight at all. David choosing not to damage Goliath any more than is necessary, and still winning. Wow. Wow. Wow. Keep in mind that Usyk did the same thing in the first fight with Joshua, remember Joshua leaning against the ropes and smiling at Usyk at the end of the fight. If he wanted to, Usyk could have knocked him out, there was clearly time for one more shot. Usyk is a true role model, all my respect to him! What a guy.

Fury is fully trained. The problem is that he is 6 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 120 kg. You think he can maintain Uysk's pace the whole match. That is impossible. fury cannot maintain such a pace. Uysk is a monster of endurance. Uysk can maintain high speed for all 15 rounds, not just 12 rounds. If you want to beat usyk, the only way is to knock him out. If you run back and forth and box with usyk you will be out of breath before him. He never weakens and will torment you in the final rounds when you get tired
