British born Muslim... Always listening to rap and rock music. My dad used to play Mehdi hassan songs on his van radio on long trips to markets when I was around 18 years old, but i never understood this music and i used to put fingers in my ears or put my headphones on and listen to my music on my Walkman. 32 years down the line, just by chance I found this you tube video. I am now mesmerised by this great artist. Oh dad, you were right and i was wrong and I'm so sorry.

In 1976 my friend had some cassettes of selected gazal where I listened this . Now after elapsing of 47-48 yrs suddenly I noticed this KZread and become messmerised by recalling my past life.I love Mehdi Hasan Sahab...

Without going through the rigours of very stiff training schedule('REWAZ'), it's not possible to scale the level of excellence which the great Mehdi Hassan Saab had scaled during his lifetime. The great Khan Saab had himself admitted about the same quite a number of times on quite a number of occasions in live interviews available through KZread. Once the great Mehdi Hassan Saab had himself said that under the strict supervision of his father, Ustad Azam Khan, his 'REWAZ'' (Rehearsal) starts right at 2AM daily for hours on end, Apart from 'REWAZ', he was required to attend 'AKHARAS'( Gymnastics classes) on daily basis in the wee hours of the day to keep himself physically and mentally strong. Needless to say that one must have enough courage of conviction, sincerity of purpose and unwavering devotion to his work so as to achieve the level of success that the great Khan Saab had achieved during his illustrious career spanning over almost six decades as an exceptional exponent of ghazal gayiki! Besides, the great Mehdi Hassan Saab had something heavenly in his voice which made him so unique! Perhaps, the great ALLAH MIYAH had bestowed upon the great Mehdi Hassan Saab all the attributes that a great singer should have!

Tablanawaz was none other than redoubtable Shaukat Hussein Khan Saab ! How incredible he was ! What a lethal combination it was ! How magnificently did the two Ustads supplement and complement each other ! It was, indeed, a treat to listen to again and again ! I have listened to it umpteen times ; but still, the inner urge in my heart to listen to it remains insatiable ! Such was the wizardry of these great Wizards Of Music !

Prakash Bhangay Saab, Whether a particular individual is a 'Kaffer'(Infidel) or not is solely dependent upon the virtues he possesses, and not by the religion he belongs to. All we should try to know is that a man is a humanbeing ; he can't be any worse. Before becoming a Hindu, Muslim or Christian, let us try to be a good human being first ! Needless to say that Music is universal in its appeal. It has no boundary, barrier, language, race or religion. Therefore, it's not fair to paint music with political or religious colours. Propriety demands that we should not try to keep music within the narrow confines like boundary, barrier, language. race or religion. However, it is an altogether different issue that the great Khan Saab had rendered this ghazal with his heart out thereby leaving a lasting impact on the heart of the discerning music lovers !

Khansaheb Mehdi Hassan was my GURU and he kept me with him for ten years 1961-1971. I attended almost his film song recording and LIVE concerts in Lahore. In music circles in Pakistan, he was also addressed as Khansaheb. Regards. Have been listening to the great singer and composer for more than half a century now. I am a senior citizen and a great music lover. My dad used to sing ghazals and used to ask us to listen and understand. I also sing his ghazals like,Ranjish hi sahi, baat karani mujhe mushqil, gulon me rang bhare,..( In the mehfil of friends).I have read Urdu at school level but have to go to dictionary for the words from Persian and Arabic. Understanding the meaning of all the words used by Shayar gives the real feel and it is necessary also. Have listened to the great maestro live, twice at Shimla summer festival. A great legend. No match.Can,t be described in words, one has to feel only...Great.

The way he had modulated his divine voice in umpteen number of times in umpteen number of ways, no one else could ever dare to attempt! What baffles one and all was the fact that In doing so, the great Khan Saab had never ever lost track with Sur, Taal and Loy. As such, he was rated so highly as an exponent of ghazal gayiki by the pundits and connoisseurs of music alike across the globe. He was simply without parallel as an exponent of ghazal gayiki! Here, in this ghazal, the great Mehdi Hassan Saab had lent his divine voice to the beautiful poetry of Perveen Sakir, diplomat poetess of Pakistan and the out come was a masterpiece, as usual! Wow ......Lajawaab...!! Khan sahib is one of ever born artists in this world . The real proud of music world.

It is said that Mehdi Hassan could breathe while delivering long verses without breaking or varying the tone or tune of the song. This masterpiece validates this claim. Ustaad indeed, may you rest in peace.

Music is universal and it makes the musician immortal.... MH is an artist beyond words and appreciation.

The praiseworthy degree of vocal mastery is devinely represented in this very laudable presentation

MH Sir is all time great classical gazal master. I was fortunate to see him live at a Gazal night @ kolkotta at Nazrul Manch sometime in 1990s. We are fortunate to have such an artist in our generation.

Ustad Mehdi Hasan Late can sing this ghazal with such technicalities. And only parveen Shakira can write such a matchless master piece. Allah swt bless you both. And rest your soul in peace. Gentle man as a host is man of taste.

Mesmerising voice of Mehdi Hasan is reverberating in my ear. His is God gifted. Many salute to his departed soul. May he rest in peace.

There is not a better meditation practice that can transport you to emptiness on the wings of consciousness than this great Ghazal in the voice of Mehdi Hassan Sahib. Had I known it earlier I would have mentioned, how, in my book " I am Consciousness". May be some other time.

Ustad Mehdi Hasan came from heaven to sing music to the people of the world with the incomparable voice of God's gift. Listening to his singing, it seems as if God is listening to our music.

How soulful voice he had? God's greatest creation!

Trying to find more gazals when he was in prime got me this. A Real gem...

Great music. Who would not like it ? It gives so much joy that I feel , it should never stop !

Subhan Allah.. It is definitely one of the greatest compilations of Khan Saheb. In the begining (@1:20) he explained that alongwith Shaukat Hussain sahab (tabla ustad), he made the 'tarz' in almost 3-4 mins (blending raag darbaari with ghazal wordings). This is marvellous, amazing.. He was a maestro, a gem. Khan Saheb jaisa koi doosra hona lagbhag na-mumkin hai. Thanks for sharing his great work.

Lajavav gazal h jitna bhi suno dil nahi bharta. h. great singer.mehdi hasan sahab gazab wah wah wah

Ye us daur ki baat hai jub gulam ali India aaya karte the hum unke jabardust fan the (aaj bhi hain ) tub mehndi hassan ji ko nahi suna tha tub mere pitji mehndi saab ko bahut praise karte the ,aah you tube ki badolat hum bhi iss suchai se rubru ho sake hain . Thanks to all those who have contributed.

Dear Parminder. Please refrain from addressing us tad MH Saad as God- He was no God but a mere human, albeit a talented genuine. Address Ustad MH saab would run contrary to his belief and rather shoeing him respect,you actually disrespect him. Please think carefully -God does enter humans or objects-he is the creator and his creation is separate to him. I hope you understand

@@ashleydean8571 I think you've misunderstood parminder here. I think he meant "karishmas" by the word "chrishmas," just a spelling mistake. "Karishmas" means wonders/miracles in hindi. So he wasn't calling Ustad MH a God but a wonder/miracle of nature and God.

darbaari ka itnaa achaa rang. ye kai 100 saalon ke riyaaz ki mehnat ka kamaal aur unki 16 pusto ko is ka shray jata hai.mein is ghazal ko gaane ki koshish kartaa hoon.khaan sahib ka aasir vaad hamaare upar banaa rahe.yahi doaa karten hein.

Heart touching

He was the university of music . In jesa sur na koi laga saka na laga sakta hai. Only Rafi sahab was very close to him.

If Pakistan is proud for a single gazals Singer he is Mehedi Hasan. No one can come nearer to him.Artists like him appear on earth very rare.
