    It is hard to gauge higher level players. Maheed appears to be playing down in his matches so it's probably not his best tennis we are seeing, let alone getting used to being videoed . Undoubtedly, he is very, very good and arguably 5.0/5.5.

    I haven't been rated in a long time, earlier in the 2000s I was around 4.0 or 4.5 but as I understood it 6.0 is start of professional ranking (maybe teaching pro) and 7.0 is touring professional. So wouldn't a 5.5 be a hair's breadth from being a pro? These guys are good but it doesn't seem like 5.5 good. Has the rating system changed dramatically in the past 10-15 years? Just trying to get a good handle on how the ratings are done these days.

  • @staschristiansen2605

    @staschristiansen2605

    There is a massive gap between a very good amateur player and a player who is beginning to do this for a living, the margins are smaller in the matches so it doesn't seem like the difference between 5.5 and 6.0 is big, but the training needed to get better and better at those levels is also becomes a lot more demanding. If anything, each level over the last 10-15 years has become better and better due to better equipment, training materials, instruction, and understanding of the game. The region is also relative, a 4.0 in North Dakota will not compete with a 4.0 in Atlanta. But I think that is less of a concern here.

    Guy in the gray shirt, green shorts, is a 5.5. I think the other guy is a solid 4.5 or 5.0. How the NTRP rating system worked (or maybe it still does this), will automatically put you at 5.5 if you played NCAA Division 1. Just speaking from personal experience ~5 years ago.

  • @tomsd8656

    These are amateur rankings. Pro is a different deal. Basically, before you earn 1 ATP point, I don't think you can call yourself a pro. And to win 1 ATP point, you must win one main draw match in an ATP event. And to get to the main draw, you have to get through qualifying rounds first. Looking at the level of players at even the lowest ATP event, none of the amateurs would get even a game, because in addition to skill and natural talent, you need to have the dedication to train hard physically AND the willingness to pay to travel to and enter ATP tournaments.

  • @mattj5492

    @mattj5492

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@tomsd8656 I assume you can't achieve a "professional" level of ranking, i.e. 6.0, 6.5 or 7.0 until you have got at least 1 ATP point. In other words, if you are an amateur, the highest ranking you can possibly get is 5.5. I thought that was the case?

  • @tomsd8656

    @tomsd8656

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@mattj5492 I didn't know that, but I have seen many amateurs on KZread claiming 6.0, 7.0, so I assume that rating is for amateur, as the pro already have their ranking system based on ATP points. There probably is no need to rate themselves on the amateur scale.

    This is a pure example of what tennis should be like. There should be singles and doubles matches that include guys, and girls. If both, the male and the female gender are the same level, when it comes down to it, why should anything mater? Clearly the girls are guys , not only in this match, but in multiple others show and express how one gender isn't stronger nor better in ALL tennis matches. If both genders are the same level, it's nothing but fair for both to play against one another.

  • @jmanly707

    @jmanly707

    Because on average there are significant differences between the physical capabilities between the sexes on average which is expressed even more at the top level. Any male ATP player in the top 100 could beat Serena Williams, and this has already been done with a player in the top 500 who beat her in straight sets. There are simply significant differences among those on the same level within their sex bordered section of the sport.
