This dear man is sorely missed.
The Antietam was just piered across us when it was still homeported in Long Beach, CA. I was in the USS Paul F. Foster (DD964).

Yup, your ship and ours were there (USS Paul F. Foster DD964).
as a grunt in Vietnam, there wasn't anything close to this sort of life style in the Army. c-rats were a main staple back in the day...... blows me away to see some of this stuff. Great job Huell . thank you Navy..

I was aboard the USS Ogden during Vietnam and we didn't eat like that
This vessel did a training exercise in 2000 where they visited my town (Sitka, Alaska, yay!) and occupied the town for a couple of weeks. The Fire Control Officer was the brother of a high school friend and he knew that I lived there, sought me out and gave me a real cool tour of the Antietam. A sailor told me that I'd seen parts of the ship that he'd never seen after serving aboard for a year. Seeing this brings back good memories.
Excellent! As a former officer aboard two Navy ships, I'd serve with this CO any time. It's great to see the programs started by Adm. Zumwalt in the 70s have grown to support a wide variety of improvements to Navy life, esp. for the enlisted folk. RIP Huell Howser.

Sad to think they probably thought he was a straight shooting man but in reality he was a homosexual
My son is going to be on this ship dec 28th 2018 .. impressive , I'm so proud of him and hope his experience and journeys on the Antietam are positive and rewarding.

I'll never forget the call for chow!
The host & captain were awesome! Great video.
I’m astonished Capt Frank knew that I’d be fascinated by the three dock-point rotation to refurbish the paint on the hull! After leaving S CA about 11 years ago, HH is someone/thing I miss. Kudos.
Great camera work. That was a very challenging situation. Every flowed nicely without distraction or hiccups. It made the Navy seem like a fun picnic. Very interesting and enjoyable video. I intend to look for some more videos by these people.
I like this reporter, he may sound over-enthusiastic but he collects lots of informations from his interlocutors that way.

Huell Hauser is one of those reporters that gets you the info in such a conversational and entertaining way that it feels like theyre just hanging out. RiP.
Wait a minuet is this the guy the simpsons did an episode on when bart and milhouse pranked him lol no way i thought he was just a made up character 🤣 no way
This episode was aired in 1997
The Sea Cadets beat those Midshipmen in the firefighting evolution
Damn I miss this guy! I got my map from Chapman, both of them, and whenever I can do a bike ride out of San Francisco, I jumped on the Harley and off I go. Knock off close to 100 now, and the beacon on top of city hall, and this look to be the next on the list. If I can get past this Covid thing. This show is only a, if I can find it....
The 2 dislikes must not be proud to be American
That Drydock # 1 is long gone. So Sad! Thanks Clinton.
