Alot of answers on "quora" said it was next to impossible to match into these kind of specialties especially as an img which i found to be really disappointing, and i don't agree with them, but it would really help if you could make a video on these specialties especially dermatology :)

Hello i would be really grateful if anyone help me with below information - 1) if someone passes out mbbs at the age of 33, will his age affect for usmle selection? As he is older than most of the candidates with same qualification... 2) do most colleges in India give permission to students who wants to go for their electives in their internship year? What is the scenario? ... Really confused about how one goes for electives skipping the regular college for few months. Please give details about this... 3) how long should we stay in US for electives+research experience? What's the ideal length of this phase..

  • @nishel25

Hey, So I mean yiu have to have a very very valid reason to having graduated medicine by 33,all gaps need to be explained but if you find a way to explain your passion for medicine it will work. Some colleges allow students doing usmle to take some time off in internship for electives Ideal time would be atleast 3-4 months because you usually need 4 letters of recommendation. In one single visit to the US you can stay there for 6 months at a stretch

    - It’s possible. Usually, the AIIMS dudes get it. It doesn’t matter what college in India you come from, unless it’s AIIMS or JIPMER, aka, the top 2. - Goes without saying, really high scores in the Steps, without second attempts. - Electives of 2-4 months, specific to NS. - Research experience, usually 6 months to a year, on f1 or j1 visa. - Anything else, that may help tone your resume into the NS direction. - Volunteer experiences where you organised stuff also demonstrate your leadership and people skills. If you want to go for it, decide on it 200%, and go balls out. Anything and everything you can, so that your CV yells “neurosurgery”, to whoever reads it. Good luck.
