Can you please share the wiring how its connected in your circuit board and your thermostat?

Very simple: connect one of the water solenoid wires to the acc+ or * terminal(whichever u have on thermostat) on thermostat. The other wire from the water solenoid connect it to the common terminal on the furnace board. Forget about other wirings.( transformer, humidistat, etc.. ). Ok now setup your thermostat to recognize the humidifier. Then if you want the humidifier to run only when heat is called select evaporative humidifier option. Or select steam humidifier option if you want humidification happen even if your heat is not called.

@@2000bassam Strange enough, Ecobee Support suggested that the two wires for the Humidifier, from the solenoid valve, should both run up to the Ecobee thermostat, one connected to ACC+ and the other to ACC-. Your suggestion to use ACC+ for one wire and leave the second connected to a common 24V terminal on the furnace board makes more sense to me. Why do you think they suggested running both wires to the thermostat? Would that even work?

@michae1a1ee either way is right. I have had mine hooked up for 4 years, and it worked well.

For a non-steam humidifier it is best to set it up to only run with the furnace while the heat is on. In the Nest this can be setup, such as "humidifier only" or "humidifier + heat." It also clearly states in Nest's pro setup instructions that "humidifier + heat" be used with bypass humidifiers. I would also assume that fan powered humidifiers also need the heat to be activated simultaneously as well, although I do believe steam humidifiers can operate with just the fan and no heat.

The most important point is missing...how to wire the valve control to the ecobee!

He verbally explained it. 1 wire to the common at the furnace (constant 24v that powers the ecobee) and the other wire connects to the ACC at the thermostat.

Thanks for this video. I have this same unit with the Ecobee 4. Question: should the HVAC fan engage when the humidifier is on and then off when the humidifier reaches target humidity?

I have an ecobee 3 and a General Aire humidifier and it works on the same wiring principle of the AprileAire. Could you show us the wiring from humidifier to control board to the ecobee? I understand it needs the Common 24V wire but I've seen some posts from people who are guessing the wiring order; I don't want to toast my control board in the furnace so if I could see how yours is done, it would be immensely helpful.

You will see on solenoid valve there are two cables, you can use either of the cable connected to "C" terminal and second cable goes to acc+ on Ecobee3. Hope that helps.

Will it control furnace blower ON/OFF? My humidifier is mist kind and requires heat and blower working together with humidifier. My humidifier also requires furnace blower to work a couple minutes after humidifier switches off automatically to distribute all the moisture collected in the duct. If blower stops the same time with mist humidifier moisture still will sit inside plenum and makes it rust. Will this Humidifier Control have this setting so furnace blower work few minutes after humidifier switched off?

Quick question I have same set up but the HVAC company installed the Manual control. How do I bypass the manual control so Ecobee would control the humidifier? Please help me with the wiring or connection how to make this happen.

Does the humidifier only run when the system calls for HEAT? or does it operate just the blower without heat in order to try and achieve the humidity setting? with the way you have it hooked up to your ECOBEE4

Way to much water flowing through that humidifier: Regulate the water via the valve. Passing air through that filter can only pick up so much of that moisture. More than a drip per second is money wasted down the drain. Regulate the water flow using the piercing valve that comes with the unit.

The only way to regulate the water is with the solenoid valve on the AprilAire 500 is with +24VDC. There is no piercing valve that I know of which you speak.

Wrong. From the manual: The correct water flow is determined by an orifice equipped with each drain type unit. When the unit is operating, there will be a small, steady stream of water to drain, which flushes away most of the trouble-causing minerals. Do not use the saddle valve to regulate the water flow. It is designed to be completely opened or closed. The minerals and solid residue not trapped by the replaceable Water Panel evaporator are flushed down the drain in the Models 550, 600 and 700. This is the most effective and least expensive method to dispose of trouble-causing minerals. The drain also eliminates the problems caused by stagnant water.

I agree that these systems can waste a lot of water. I closed my water valve going to the solenoid valve/humidifier completely, disabling the humidifier function for a long time. Now that I have an Ecobee I'm thinking about trying it again. I reduce the water flow to the solenoid by not opening the water line valve completely. I find that the more water pressure you send to the humidifier the more it will waste.

Thanks for sharing! I have the exact same setup, but I had the newer AprilAir Controller (AprilAire 60 I believe). The control did a great job all last winter, but being able to control the humidifier from the Ecobee is much better than going to the basement! I'm curious...........its Mid-Fall here, and the humidity on the Ecobee4 reads 54%. I'd love to test my connection to the humidifier, but I don't think I can crank it up to 55 or more. Any suggestions? Or just have to wait until colder and humidity drops?
