Your video series is inspirational. My son and I will be doing the same level of work on our 69 VW bus this winter. Thank you.

Thanks brother for sharing your work. It’s always nice to see other peoples restoration.😉🤙
I build radios and other electronic devices but I really enjoy watching your metal work! I worked in the metal shop of an auto company more than 40 years ago and every spot weld has a fond place in my memory!

@@Vangabonders I don´t have the patience, I would have probably just bought a van that was made in 2015 and fixed that.
What you refer to as "the cardboard technique" is actually CAD, cardboard aided design. If you want some good fabrication inspiration and British humor , checkout Bad Obsession Motorsport and their Project Binky. Keep up the great work!
There you go again with preformed panels. LOL Looks a lot better than mine. Rusty Dubbs

It's so funny watching progress on Yours Bus in comparison to restoration of Mitch Bergsma's Bus... And somehow I can relate to Yours way of doing it and imagine final result - bus to be used with nice Subaru engine, not overpolished and "better than factory" garage queen, to good to have fun driving around.

A tube goes a long way for this stuff
On my bus project, the torsion tube has rusted trought inside the frame running through the bus😬🙃 make sure to check your out

Thankfully most of the frame on my bus has been really dry and free of rust. Where my bus mostly suffered rust was from the holes that were cut in the roof and leaked into the interior 🙁
Have you tried “easy off oven cleaner” to remove that last bit of stubborn paint? It smells horrible but works pretty well and it’s an aerosol for those hard to reach places.

It belongs to my buddy Dalton. I ought to have him bring it by again for an in depth video!
awesome, this is amazing to have this section on video because nobody has shown this area for repair, question, did you put adhesive on the long spot weld section or was that section with the holes clean, im not familiar with the ability to weld around an area with adhesive on it?
@Vangabonders
Жыл бұрын
The adhesive was only used on the sides. Can’t weld through the adhesive while it’s setting. It would just melt it and put impurities in your weld.
I think lacquer thinner only works on enamel paint
